engine overheat

in BMS4.34 why is the f-16 engine overheats on landing in kunsan after a mission completion : is there something wrong with my landing parameters which i do verify and check closely.

Two thoughts,
-Are you pitching up too high and your tail is striking the ground? The optimal touch down AOA for the F-16 is 13°-Is your AIR SOURCE knob is set to NORM?

I’ve never had an engine overheat problem during or immediately after landing, even with 4.34. When aerobraking, I keep the gun cross at 13 degrees.</blockquote><p>>-Is your AIR SOURCE knob is set to NORM?<br />The air source setting is for avionics cooling, it has nothing to do with the engine.</p>

<p>@LorikEolmin on the latest mission i did land at 157knots ,gliding angle was 3 degrees and recovery angle at 13 degrees and still engine was shut down with oil ifault indicator on </p>

Did you turn random faults on? </p>

<p>@tecumseh<br />Guess you’ve got enabled Random Failures in BMS config file (g_bEnableRandomFailures set to 1). In this case, you may have a avionics/engines/structural random failures in any moment of tour flights, even in flight or on the ground (the time in flight hours between failures is set by “g_fMeanTimeBetweenFailures” ).<br /></p>

<p>@tecumseh <br /><br />At 13° pitch up fully opened speedbrakes will touch the runway and cause the fault you described.<br /><br />At LG down the speedbrakes are limited to a smaller angel, however you can override this by pressing the open speed brakes switch again.<br /><br />Go to outside view and experiment a bit, land with speedbrakes in limited or fully closed position.</p>

<p>Are you sure the speedbrakes will open further during a 2nd press of the speedbrake switch? I was under the impression that this function only works if there’s weight on all 3 gear struts, not while the jet is still aerobraking down the runway on the rear wheels only.
