Which way is the easiest way to create or modify a key file?

@warpig I think I’ve zeroed in on the problem. The thing I mentioned above with “deleting other modes and pinkie shifts in SST” hasn’t been done to the profile you’re using in SST. Attached is a view of “grid mode” for what I had for my X52 Pro compared to the default one you’ve mentioned.
My file here:
Default pr0 file here:

Let me know if you can’t understand the difference or how to get there, but this should solve the issue. As for your follow-on question, the shift works by holding the button >0.5s, then pressing desired shifted command, then releasing shifted command (lest it get stuck) and finally release the shift button. Pressing it (i.e. <0.5s) will simply do what the pinky switch on the HOTAS does.

But I can’t see anything in your grid pic which shows the buttons have been programmed. Or do I just delete where it says mode 1 mode 2 ECT and just click on the x ? If the buttons were programmed wouldn’t it show a command? I’m not at home now but I get home I’m going to check and delete anything I find in there. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks

@Fearripper96
i check the pr0 file. It was weird, in you pic above, you have multiple columns, that what mine looks like with no pr0 file loaded. When i load a pr0 file i only get one column, the Mode 1 column. Thats in Grid view. I checked all the buttons and found that there were some keyboard keys assigned so I deleted them and saved it. It didnt make any difference. I then created a new profile which shows the columns like in your pic but that still didnt work.

could it be that im using a Saitek stick with Logitech software? I doubt it because im sure it would be a known issue. Any other ideas? Surely im not the only one with this issue!

@warpig So, if you have one column only you’re well on the way. Make sure, like you said, that no keyboard commands are assigned and that there are no blue boxes on the top. Please post another screenshot of the grid view in SST when you can. If that doesn’t work, I have no idea. The program seems to be working well enough with your X52 and this is, as I said, the only thing I know of which inhibits the pinky switch being seen as a DX switch.

Edit: You can also see in my top screenshot that the “Pinkie” box has a white background, whereas in your picture and my lower picture it’s got a blue background. This can probably indicate whether there’s a SST “Shiftstate”, which is what I want you to get rid of.

@Fearripper96

The Pinky box is blue because i pressed the button to show that SST picks up the button press so that should be ok. here are two more pics. the controls are set to either Fallback or Bands. BTW Mode 1 in in blue because i clicked it. There is nothing programmed in any of the buttons.If everything looks ok ill try the suggestion above and uninstall AL then BMS then reinstall BMS and not AL.

@warpig That does look right, yes. Are you sure that’s the profile that’s active in SST? I know this might be due to the latest version of SST being unable to select profiles. I guess you could try deleting all the other profiles (on my system they were in Users/Public/Public Documents/Logitech/X52 Professional). Also, I think if you double click the icon to open the program that your selected one is active. If the button still isn’t being seen by either AL or Falcon BMS (in Setup/Controllers one of the green dots should light up) then I have no idea what might be causing this.

When i press the pinky in the BMS UI it does recognise it. And its definitely the right pr0 file because i can see its name in the top right in SST. as a final attempt, I’ll uninstall AL then BMS and reinstall BMS. See what that does. Ill report back once ive tried. And thanks for your help, its appreciated.

@Fearripper96
This is what i did. I uninstalled AL then uninstalled BMS then reinstalled BMS with all the patches. I loaded the modified pr0 into SST and i tried the Basic DX X52 profile and…………… IT WORKED no its not a typo, the pinky actually works now. I shutdown BMS and restarted it and tried it again and its all work as it should. I think it may have been getting rid of the key bindings in the pr0 file and uninstalling AL.

so thanks again for your time and effort, if i see you guys in an online session, ill let you use me as target practice.

@warpig Glad you solved it.

@warpig Did you try the excel supplied with the installation files of BMS?
It is an excellent tool.

-

@janjan
i played around with it. I selected my version of Office, selected my controller then thought, now what do i do?

@warpig

I think we’ve come full circle <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f601.png?v=kcklbnj8rj8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–grin” />

Did you try to follow my post given above?

Cheers, Uwe
