BMS 4.35 on Linux / WINE
-
yep, it makes no sense to keep duplicated devices. It’s quite easy and fast to do just few clicks.
-
Sorry for the dumb question, but how can I access the windows game controller panel within wine?
Cheers, Uwe

I’m haapy you’ve got it solved (for the record all the answers are in [UNOFFICIAL] Running BMS on Linux/WINE with opentrack HOWTO thread)

Looks like I had some buttons reassigned in my copy of the win10 keyfile, I used a fresh “copy” and now the keyfile appears to be 1:1 compatible with the win10 side of things, very nice!
Thanks again everybody,

_Windows sfx Windows 11 Linux based
With several features and a distinct look, Windows 11. Microsoft’s new operating system has its release date, but it still doesn’t seem to offer the freedom desired by some users, such as the Brazilian developers of the LinuxFX distribution.Composed of just four members, the team led by developer Rafael Rachid managed to reproduce the main features of Windows 11 with great fidelity in the Windowsfx 11 distribution, based on the KDE Plasma and Ubuntu Core code. The charm of Microsoft’s interface is translated into the WX Desktop theme, applied to the desktop (DE) of KDE, which features all the aesthetics of the upcoming operating system, including icons, custom animations and various modifications.
In addition to the refined presentation, Windowsfx 11 offers all the features that make Linux one of the main alternatives for internet users thanks to the kernel and package manager used by the novelty — the same present in the stable and secure Ubuntu 20.04. This feature facilitates the application installation process with just a few command lines, increasing the distro’s accessibility for more users.
In an interview, Rachid revealed that Windowsfx 11 will follow the Windows 11 release schedule and promises new features for the future. Possible updates include new control panel, improved theme manager and more functions for Helloa, a proprietary voice assistant built in since version 10.7 of the Linux distribution. The team also took the opportunity to comment that Windowsfx 11 is being developed under Microsoft’s terms of use, using open source tools available on the project’s own website. Thus, the distro would not be “directly infringing” any rights of the Redmond company.
The developers reinforced the importance of the project by being able to save old PCs. According to those responsible, LinuxFX seeks to avoid the unnecessary “disposal” of computers incompatible with Windows, according to Microsoft’s requirements.“People and companies that only need a secure computer to work or surf the internet will directly benefit from our system,” said Rachid. “People with no money to buy a new computer — around the world — too.”
LinuxFX has been around since 2007 and gained notoriety with its Windows 10-based distro. And the system impact could be even greater with the Windows 11-inspired version, as Microsoft’s system is more demanding on requirements and may even run out of updates on incompatible machines.
Availability
Windowsfx 11 is available as an ISO for x86 and ARM platforms, allowing installation on various devices such as the Raspberry Pi. The system has a completely free version and can be purchased by corporate users, which includes support from the development team. The current version of Windowsfx 11 is still in preview, which, like Windows 11 for Insiders, may have some bugs during use.

Looks quite nice, still personally I’ve settled with xfce4 for work and Cinnamon for my gaming rig, but this project might help with making “conversion” from windows to Linux easier, so hats off to the devs for their efforts!
All the best,
Uwe

<p>I installed everything according to the instructions and Falcon 4.0 runs and was installed from GOG using Lutris. I have BMS 4.35 installed corectly, no license issue on install but when the launcher is run the Launch is greyed out<br />.<img class=“ql-image” src=“https://i.imgur.com/8MvqpbC.png” /><br /><br />I have uninstalled and re installed and same issue, checked config and still unable to launch. Did I miss something?<br /></p>
-
<p>@Freejack <br />I haven’t seen what might cause launch being grayed out, but i think it’s worth to make sure :</p><ul><li>Falcon 4 and BMS is installed in the same wine prefix. </li><li>there’s working audio output, I mean Speakers/headphones plugged in and sound output set in Falcon/BMS wine profile. </li><li>your GPU is DX11 capable (btw if possible using DXVK is strongly recommended.)</li></ul><p><br />It is good idea to launch BMS from commandline and see if there are any errors on the console, those might provide some clues.<br /></p>
-
<p>@Xeno <br /><br />They are installed in the same prefix audio works in Falcon 4.0 no problem. GPU is RTX 2070 Super the wine prefix is using lutris-ge-7.2-2-x86_64 with DXVK 1.9.4L-2, Vulkan v2.5L-c0a3fa8 will try the commandline option and see what it throws at me and post it here.</p>
-
<p>NO errors just a the grayed out launch button. I re installed both Falcon 4.0 and BMS and same. I have to be missing something.</p>
-
<p>Resolved, it took a fresh prefix and re install with everything in default location. Now working…see ya all in the sky.</p>
-
<p>@Freejack <br /><br />might have been an issue with your WINEARCH, I think BMS supports only 64 bit architectures these days (makes sense as it’s 2022 <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f609.png?v=1g16vn91q2r” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–wink” /> ). <br /><br />All the best, <br /><br />Uwe <br /></p>

Hi All,
I know that this post is quite old, but i try anyway. I am new in Linux so…forgive me
I have a VM with Ubuntu 20.04. i install wine too, version 6.0.3.
Is there a step by step guide to install BMS (now 4.37). I read some other post and this thread too but i got errors related to DLL and maybe i need to reset and retry from scratch.
Many thanks, Ciao
