How to download 4.36 and not use torrent?
-
@Dram qBittorrent is super easy. Just download the app. There aren’t any adds or maleware. Install like any other program. Download the torrent from these forums. With the torrent program running, just drag and drop the torrent file into the program window. It will then ask where you want your download to be saved. Easy, breazy. After the download completes, you may then leave qBittorrent running so that now, you are part of the seeder for BMS. Look at how great being a drone is

Hi,
Thanks for that. Once you have DL’d the qTorrent app do you drag the 4.36 link to it without downloading it? Sorry if thats a dumb question.
Kind Regards

@Dram No, you’ll download the torrent file from the here
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/22228/falcon-bms-4-36-full-installer
It will be a super small file.
That is the one to drop into the torrent program. -

Thanks for this explaination.

TO MAX and QUASI,
SUCCESS with the torrent install. The only additional step i had to do is pay for the WINRAR use. My demo version expired.
Torrent was fast.
Thanks again -
@huffer2 don’t you dare pay another penny. Get 7zip. Completely free opens all

Hi,
Many many thanks it all worked very well. I’m a little confused by Huffer2s post though. I just DLd the update and transferred the file to QBitTorrent. After the download was completed to my desktop I merely unpacked the zip file. I didn’t need 7zip or Winrar. Am I missing something?
Kind Regards
Dram.

I used the free version of winrar doing my 4.35 updates. Win10 wanted to use winrar again, and I did not know how to change this as my default unzip. Live and learn.

Sooo about that mirror?
-
When I used the recommended Torrent client to d/l 4.36 it kept stopping with “hashes do not match the payload”. I kept resuming and it all seemed to work afterwards. Very strange.
I, too, am no fan of Torrents.

No… for the avoidance of doubt – Windows has had built-in support for unzipping .zip files, for decades. Just right-click and select “Extract all”.
This works ok for very large 3GB+ zip files, like BMS.
Maybe some third-party theaters or mods are distributed in rar form? that would require 7zip or WinRar or similar

Do you have a vastly outdated torrent client?
If not, I would suggest running a memory test, you might have malfunctioning RAM.

I was talking with some of the folks on the VG BMS discord about the timeline on mirrors last weekend and the general vibe was the mirror pops up in a day or two. I myself have never seen it that fast,
I admit that I don’t keep notes on the lag time of BMS mirrors but my feels say it’s much closer to weeks than days after launch for it to o show up.
That reminds me, I need to go back to VG and tease them on that 2 day after launch comment for a mirror. So for the folks who are like NOPE on the torrent option hang in there, maybe next week.
-
@Buttons I still don’t get why torrent are so problematic overall…
It is even safer than straight plain download since you can’t hack the distributed source…

No. I literally downloaded the latest client a minute before I d/l 4.36.
There is nothing wrong with my system memory. I have no stability issues whatsoever, and the download worked (i.e. was not corrupted).
-
@Tiger-0 Which client? If you already said it and I missed it, sorry.

After you download it. What if you dont want to be a peer and ‘host’ the file for others?
