Solved Increase TrackIR translation limits?
-
I like being able to lean around inside the cockpit to get closer to the MFDs, switches, etc. but keep bumping up against the limits of head tracking translation for the XYZ axes.
I understand this is probably done so it’s realistic but I’d like to be able to remove or increase these limits so I have more freedom of movement. Is it possible?

In the “falcon bms.cfg” file "set g_fViewlimitPitchDown 0.0 " lets you look further down in your cockpit.
If that isn’t what you are looking for you can play with the curves in your tracking software.
If that isn’t it either… I’m out of ideas

@Benney No , that waht @javelin10 said , won’t help you in your case.
That’s only for as the word says view-limit-PITCH-down … so.What you need is definition of “box” inside pit in which your head TRANSLATIONS can be moved, so no pitch.
That is configured in pit files (3dcockpit.dat) for airplane, and is somewhat - don’t touch if not sure what are you doing.
But, there is caveat, I’m not sure that pit files falls into same-files MP category, meaning, you have to have same files or server will not let you in… that will have to answer someone who is more MP friendly.
eg. Database files, perfectly reasonable, fall under this by default if set by server , so no editing of config files is allowed for MP… in local you do what you want with your theater .
But,… why just not use FOV ZOOM , it is available with moose scroll ?? and/or can be preset to stick , keyboard , whatever you want

@javelin10 I’ve already got that set, like what white_fang says I’m looking for being able to move around inside the cockpit more.
@white_fang Thanks, I’ll take a look at the pit files. I’m not currently playing any MP so won’t be an issue at the moment.
I do use zoom with the scroll wheel but find it easier to just lean to see things (don’t have a spare axis to bind it to unfortunately). It’s when I’m looking at the side panels that I notice it the most, like I can’t seem to lean enough to see the left column of CAUTION lights on the left panel?

@Benney
You may need to adjust the axis curves on the X, Y, and Z axes in Trackir (rather than pitch, yaw and roll), eg, pull upwards the curve at the current maximum levels of the Y curve. -
@Benney Are you talking about “eyebrowse” caution lights ? on left and right side of pit …
I can’t grasp what is blocking your view …pilot model shoulders maybe
Can you post pic ? just a cutoutHow much you can move your head left exactly … should be almost to the “lights” switches - hud left vertical bracket should be in center of screen
Maybe what @mypc says is correct - maybe your translation curves in trackir/opentrack are set too small …
I don’t have any problems reaching any part of cockpit

Also, using the TrackIR GUI, observe the Camera View in the top right showing the three tracking dots - move your head as close as you would when seemingly blocked from moving any closer to your instruments in BMS, and see if all three tracking dots are still visible to the camera. Center placement on the monitor is not advised if using the TrackClip Pro, IR sensor should be on the left side to have a more direct picture of the TrackClip Pro IR LED’s when moving and especially as your own head gets closer to your monitor and therefore the TrackIR sensor.

Thanks for peoples responses, it’s not anything to do with my Opentrack settings as my X,Y,Z still moves along the curve when the in-game view stops moving (and I don’t have this issue in other games with the same curves).
I changed these values in the 3dCkpit.dat of the blocks I’m flying like @white_fang suggested and it did what I was wanting by allowing me to lean further. It’ll be pretty crap to have to change this for every cockpit but if that’s the only way then I can deal with that.
//6DOF bounding box movementlimit_left 0.6; // Was 0.415 movementlimit_right 0.6; // Was 0.415 movementlimit_up 0.119; // Was 0.119 movementlimit_down 0.6; // Was 0.3 movementlimit_fore 1.0; // Was 1.0 movementlimit_aft 0.6; // Was 0.6

@javelin10
Dude thanks so much. I haven’t flow BMS for years and installed 4.37.3. Before didn’t have the issue. Now when I look to the left/right and down, the bottom row of switches/stuff was out of view cuz the view limiter stopped above them. Very annoying. Your suggestion fixed my dilemma. I owe you a six pack… or a gummy.
