PC Restarts Fullscreen
-
@depapier Well I have the most current Adrenaline driver still compatible with Win7. But the problem was already since many ati versions back. Also I never have/had this problem with older directx9 versions of BMS.
I really hope the restarts are really gone now, but it needs a longer time of testing. -
Either graphics-driver bug, as mentioned, or overheating.
Especially if you have v-sync OFF and/or triple-buffering ON, which will cause your CPU and/or GPU to run at 100% without any pause.
To eliminate overheating as a possible cause… use something like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to keep an eye on your temps, before crash happens.
If you’re in fullscreen mode… NVidia FrameView will overlay the CPU and GPU temps. (I believe it works also on AMD cards, but I haven’t tried.)

@airtex2019 Its not a overheating problem. Like i said the restart can happen just after starting PC and bms and then just in 2d tacref.
It seems solely related to the triple buffer setting in Bms. Has not restarted ever since.(fingers crossed)Hope the bms devs will find something in the end to solve this issue. It never happened in the dx9 bms versions
-
A PC restart seems more a problem with hardware that BMS triggers.
Also, win7 isn’t supported anymore (we don’t develop and test on it anymore).
- Could be a driver issue (Radeon driver’s haven’t been the most stable at times)…
- Could be a hardware issue (Your PC starts to be part of museum pieces to be honest)…
- Could be a heating issue (Did you clean your PC dust recently)…
Anyway, don’t expect BMS team to give you a miracle here…

If you have not done it, I would recommend a complete video driver cleaning using DDU Uninstaller 18.0.5.5 from here then a fresh install of the latest AMD drivers… then see where you are.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I will go back to borderless mode then to get my stability back. And forget about the fullscreen mode.
And stick to dx9 versions of Bms until a new PC will arrive.Cheers Obi1

@Obi1 Just curious – in borderless mode, does triple-buffering still cause problem, or is it ok?
-
@airtex2019 In Borderless I get zero restarts with triple buffering on or off yes.
-
@Obi1 thx… yeah that really sounds like a driver bug, then.
-
@airtex2019 Yes I think so too now. My restarts still happened after changing the tripple buffer/vsync. (Most of the time being in TACREF i get the quickest restarts happening) I was suggested to try some older drivers again that work for others, maybe I will have a look someday. For now I will keep using borderless but loose a lot of fps with it.

@Obi1 there is another thread here someone with an R9 experiencing crash on startup…
I just happened to notice this page, indicating they’re still making driver updates for the R9, and still targeting Win7. I don’t know if it’s true or not…

@airtex2019 Yes i was already using this 22.6.1 driver. it seemed as an incidental release at the time. Not to be expected again. Anyway thanks but will not help. I was advised to actually also try older drivers as they where very good and maybe the issue was introduced in later drivers instead.

@Obi1 i had this before lf u have a powerful video card or u upgrade to new one , it need to good power source … so maybe u need to change your pc power with new one for this video card like what i did
-
@sheref But i just dont understand why I can run in borderless window mode without any of these restarts. I have a very stable system and use it solely for BMS. Does fullscreen suck up more power or heat. If so then fine. I will update my system in due time. But i dont have the extra space at home and energy and real need to start a complete hardware replacement.

@Obi1 maybe because my laptop when i run it in Fullscreen looks like the hardware disapplied and return to work again or maybe it’s just switch from the intel to NVidia put i am sure it’s about the power source in the PC
