Solved BMS 4.36 RTT Client,it doesn't work.

@Getsno
I don’t have any experience with the vc140 error. Looks like there may be some tools online that handle that, maybe it is not as easy as dropping a file in a folder? -

My sim buddy, you are right on top of my post; quite remarkable.
Answer to your question, the X Circle only happens when I attempt to start the RTTC program. I don’t know where to install the vcruntime140-1.dll to resolve the error of that .dll missing when I try to load RTT client. That is what I am having issues with.
Your coaching is most appreciated.
Getsno9/27/22/update…
Here are steps I have tried:- installed complete vcruntime pkg to my windows Sys32 and Wow64 directories, per suggestions
- checked that BMS.cfg rttexport is set to 1
- started a BMS4.36 TE and checked 3D views - OK - no black box with orange cross!
- returned to BMS startup screen and clicked on RTTClient, this time no vcruntime error as before, but then got the dreaded black box with orange cross - again, as previously posted on 9/17/2022
-
Further research…
I checked out the BMS 4.36 Tools/RTTRemote folder, and clicking on the RTTClient64, I get the orange X and black back screen. So, it appears that when I launch RTTClient it goes to this App - FYI -
Hello BMS gurus…
I am closing in on my issue.
Pls have a look at the two screens below.
Clicking on RTTClient in theBMS opening screen takes me to the orange window.FYI, my RTTServer never opens… Now I need to understand how to correct that problem.
Suggestions please… -

Good point. Thanks for reminding me.
However, I’ve invested a lot of time and effort to extract MFDs in 4.32 and 4.33 with my thrustmaster MFD frames functioning. Need to solve this issue somehow… Getsno -

You only need the RTT client for local display and enable the RTT export in the cfg file…
The server is to send the data on another PC to display the exports…

RTT Client is working as it should. The orange “X” is to help you dial in where you want to put the display. That is controlled with the RTTClient.cfg file. In the file you will see something like:
Furthermore, RTT Client can try to render displays “always on top”,
(ONTOP = 1, default 0) allowing you to overlay displays e.g. on the
main BMS view.
Examples:
MFDLEFT_X = 141
MFDLEFT_Y = 1444
MFDLEFT_W = 765
MFDLEFT_H = 765
MFDLEFT_ONTOP = 1MFDRIGHT_X = 2556
MFDRIGHT_Y = 1441
MFDRIGHT_W = 765
MFDRIGHT_H = 765
MFDRIGHT_ONTOP = 1Just put in the correct x y coordinates for where you want it. Then make the W and H to fit the MFD. I used the RRT Configurator to get the data and manually put it in as I couldn’t get the program to write to a file. Here is the post with download link.

Hello John, Just got to read your post, thanks for the info.
FYI - I launched the RTTConfigurator by AlphaFox and got the msg:
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/gc87grueps2e0ra/RTTConfigurator_10022022.jpg?dl=0). Not sure how to resolve that msg.
Any suggestions?
Getsno -
@Getsno I get that too. I just ignore it hit OK , drag the boxes to the correct locations and then, adjust the W and H to fill the MFD, read the x and y coordinates and then put it in the .cfg file manually.
Hope that helps,

Hello John,
I feel like I’m in a do-loop maze with the MFD extractions.
I put info into the RTTClient configurator and nothing gets saved!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffa9aqzhojoahhr/rttconfig_screen never gets saved.jpg?dl=0
followed by :
Going into the RTTC config file and manually adding the text info and no joy with this as well.

I don’t know what else to try at this point.

Hi,
This App ONLY works with 4.35. My work around was to download 4.35, use the RTTConfig app to create the RTTClient Configuration settings ( .ini) file and then copy and paste it into 4.36. This method works well for me.
See my post dated 01 May 22 but the solution to the issue is here:-
**In regards to using the RTTConfig App with BMS 4.36, I have given up, as presumably it was designed to be used with 4.35 only. All was not lost however as I had a saved copy of the RTTClient.ini from 4.35 which I copied over to 4.36 and it worked perfectly.
My problem is that I have changed to a new additional external monitor arrangement and the old RTTClient was no longer relevant. I was faced with the hassle of experimenting with the rather convoluted MFD positioning protocol used by BMS with some dread. I then remembered that I still had the BMS 4.35 Setup folder resting in my backup drive, so I merely installed 4.35 on my “D” drive.
The RTTConfig App on my “C” drive automatically found 4.35 on the “D” when I fired it up much to my relief and using its quick and easy tools, I can now create new RTTClient.ini files which I can copy and paste to 4.36.
I hope this might be useful to those members who find themselves in the same situation in the future.**

Dram,
Wow, what an informative reply.
Never thought I would need to regress to 4.35 for MFDs to work in 4.36; What the heck! I’ll give it a try and let you know…
Roger that … Getsno -
Dram,
Another thought. Instead of going thru the “dance” to download 4.35 and install, could I just "acquire your 4.35 RTTClient config file and reference it in my platform… Just a thought worth your reply…

@Getsno
Hi,Having the 4.35 Base install is no big deal provided you have space for it and it gives you the flexibility to change your MFD extractions anytime. If you PM me your E Mail I will of course send you a copy of my RTTClient.ini, but I’m not too sure how useful you will find it unless by some miracle your rig and monitors are exactly the same size and position as mine.
My RTTClient.ini will create dual MFDs that fit in tandem underneath the 6 o clock position of a 27" monitor. The monitor they are projected to is a 12" unit set at 800x600. The size of the MFD projections perfectly fit the Thrustmaster F16 Cougar MFD frames. To be clear. The MFDs will NOT be on your main monitor but centrally underneath, providing you use a 27" monitor.
I suggest you rename your original RTTClient to RTTClient.old, before using the copy RTTCLient for safety.
I hope this helps

@Dram what happened, did this tool get abandoned? did we lose AlphaFox? is the source on GitHub or somewhere?
I can probably fix it, or whip up something new, if it’s lost.

@airtex2019
Hi,
Unsure if it has been abandoned, but the last post that AlphaFox made to this forum was in March 2021. I have superficially searched GitHub and can see no reference to the App.It would be wonderful news if you could fix it for 4.36 or create a replacement. Its a great little tool for easily sizing and placing your MFDs. You only need it to create the RTTClient.ini, which it automatically places into your RTTRemote folder in Tools. It therefore seems to have little or no impact on your system or BMS. The tool itself is not running, except when creating new or amended .ini files. The MFD extraction is executed by selecting the RTTClient64 button in RTTRemote.

@Dram Thanks… I’ve only used RTT for overlays on my primary monitor.
It is indeed a b–ch to tweak those coords by hand. If I remember correctly, it doesn’t account for DPI scaling on the desktop, so you have to do some math if you have a high-res with 125% or 150% (or 200%) dpi.
I have memory of trying to position my MFD squares in the bottom corners… but at 150% they got scaled off-screen (below the bottom) and nothing was showing up… it took me a very long time to realize what the heck was happening! So yeah, overall it’s not very user friendly.
I don’t have multi-monitor setup to test with. But I suppose I can rig up my laptop to my desktop monitor, and do some rudimentary testing that way.
For hosting on a second PC / tablet – size and resolution likely quite different than current desktop monitor – I guess I can make a “virtual desktop” window of appropriate aspect ratio, to drag and drop the rectangles.
Let me know any thoughts…
