2D UI Updates

Is anyone on the BMS developer team actively or planning to work on modernizing the 2D UI? I ask because I have a concept that I think might work but I don’t want to spend time documenting it and developing a proof of concept if it’s already being worked on.

@MetalSteveK [I am not a member of BMS team but] I’ve been led to understand, there’s not a clean line of separation in the code, between the campaign engine and the 2D live-map presentation (and presumably its 3D ‘recon’ view)
if that is true, it’s unfortunate and depressing to contemplate. but otoh side-projects like Tumbler’s F4Radar give hope, that some things can be done…

@airtex2019 Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried to create an alternate 2D UI that’s integrated into the main executable, but like you said, everything is so interconnected that it isn’t possible to do it as an outsider. I’d like to understand if there is already someone within the team that is working on a new 2D UI. If not, I’ll document a proposal that can be considered by the devs. If they’re already working on a new 2D UI then there’s nothing for me/us to do but wait.
