@Hawkeye55 Have you followed the instructions on this page?
-
@Atlas
I have not as Saturday is dedicated to college football…GO IRISH.
I worked today and will again tomorrow and will work on this tomorrow afternoon. I sincerely appreciate all the help and will advise if further assistance is needed. Oh yeah, I need a new stick as my Saitek X52 pooped the bed.
Thank you all again and look forward to flying with some of you one day. I presume there is still some VFS’s around -
@Atlas
OK, I have no idea how to unzip the setup file. It is WAY different than it used to be. Is there a tutorial? -
@Hawkeye55 download 7-Zip file extractor (64-bit) here, install it. Then once you click on a Zip file Extract it to a folder of your choosing, in this case make it C:\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup. Once done go to that folder and run Setup.exe. That will get you 4.36.0.

@Icer
this is so embarrassing…when in the 7-Zip folder I don’t see a .exe file to run the program. I tried right clicking on the BMS setup file to see if that program would show up there but no joy. I am very sorry. I have been “out of the game” for many years and have lost most knowledge of what used to be second nature. -
@Hawkeye55 download the installer and then unzip it using 7-Zip. See pic.
Open the resulting folder and you should have the Setup.exe file in there.
-

@Hawkeye55 with 7-Zip installed you don’t “run” 7-Zip and then search for a file, you right click on the zip file, go to “Open With”, select 7-Zip File Manager. In my case with Win11 Pro I can just double click on the zip file itself to open it in 7-Zip.
First pic is after a right click on the Zip file (assuming you can’t simply double click on the “Falcon_BMS_4.36_Setup.zip” file to auto-open it IN 7-Zip). Second pic is the 7-Zip window ready to extract the Setup file. Final pic is after you click the “Extract” button, then you choose where you want to extract the zip file contents to… my suggestion is to C:\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup, it will create the folder automatically. If you make it this far, run “Setup.exe” in the C:\Falcon BMS 4.36 Setup folder to install BMS 4.36. Let it default to C:\Falcon BMS 4.36 for the sake of ease… Should have a BMS icon on the desktop, run it and see what happens.
-
@Icer @Hawkeye55 you don’t even need to open 7-Zip or the file, just right-click on the file itself. See my pic above.

Yes, said that “(assuming you can’t simply double click on the “Falcon_BMS_4.36_Setup.zip” file to auto-open it IN 7-Zip)”. Thats how it works on my system…
-
This is what happened when I right clicked and clicked on 7 zip…
-
@Hawkeye55 You’re opening the .torrent file, I think. Download and install qbittorrent and use that to download the actual setup files.
-
Step 1 - download the .torrent file
.
.
Note that this file is only 190KB
.
.
.
Step 2 - download the actual setup files
.
.
Note that this file is about 3.8GB in size
.
.
.
Step 3 - unzip with 7-Zip
.
.
And now you have your setup files
.
.
Note the folder structure for these files
.
.
.
.
Hope that clarifies things! -
Which is why I said 8 days ago:
You have downloaded all the files via Bittorrent and have the exe’s saved somewhere? As @Hawkeye55 said, need to know exactly where you are in the procedure to help you. I’m curious, if zip files perplex you how did you get the torrents downloaded? Do you have Falcon 4.0 installed?
-
@Icer He must be a new guy, maybe played F4.0 or Allied Force before but not BMS. I must admit the very first time I tried BMS, it was confusing for me too and I am a tech/computer enthusiast. Took a while for me to wrap my head around everything. I mean the updates alone… usually you just fire up the update and it’ll patch up your game but in BMS, no, that’s too simple. The updates will update the installer, then run the installer to update the game!
-
@Atlas I agree, trying to be as helpful and patient as possible! Some good news for newbies, though i’m not sure when Max Waldorf will make it generally available, but I just tested an all-in-one BMS Installer that not only installs BMS (4.36.0) from a single exe but it also automatically finds the latest update (4.36.3) and installs all you need to get there. Grabs 4.36.1/4.36.2/4.36.3 and installs them in order with very little interdiction necessary. Think this will make a new guys life a LOT easier!

@Atlas looks like the installation nightmare is over for newbies! https://wiki.falcon-bms.com/start-with-falcon-bms/install-update

@Hawkeye55 - no more “muddling”, all you need to do is download the new installer using Bitorret (or similar), Extract the .exe file somewhere (anywhere), and run it. It will install BMS AND all 3 updates, just let it do it’s thing…

This is what I get when I try to open the zip file…
