New Download link

Saw the new download link. Well then… thank you for that.

@Volksfuersorge “new”?

Awesome work, BMS Devs! This will help so many not-so-computer-savvy e-pilots, no doubt. A slower DL speed is a fair trade off, I’m sure.
-
@airtex2019 The new Full install link?
-
Oh wow I assumed it was just a zip of the ‘setup’ folder structure with U1-U3 prestaged into it, like they did with 4.35.
But it appears to be a whole new installation engine. Leaving behind no semipermanent ‘setup’ folder … that should save several GB of drive space, and alleviate a lot of confusion.
Amazing work, gents!

There was another link except the usual torrent. A “new link (slow)”; a normal direct download link under “new installer”. Exactly what i always wanted. I downloaded from there yesterday. But now it has been removed! Can someone explain this to me?
-
Well in theory, I don’t need to justify anything to you
The direct download link was removed because it was puting a lot of strain on the hosting provider and I try to minimize the bill at the end of the month…
We pay for all of this on top of giving our time…
Do you really need to complain? -

Do you really need to complain? Thanks for your answer. Good news, that there is a direct download link.
I did not complain. Just wanted some information. Try to hide your tears, I am feeling with you from the deep of my heart… Thanks for your work. -
@MaxWaldorf I really don’t see why you don’t have a way for people to donate towards the costs of hosting.
(I was going to write about dividing it amongst other community sites and servers, but that already sounds like too much admin work )
-
@CriticalMass well… In theory, I would agree with you but it puts the team in a position where we are not comfortable about asking money outside of the team…
Could be considered in the future but for now, we stick to what we do…
-
@MaxWaldorf Can people somehow share the hosting burden in other ways, hold some data, donate some bandwidth?

Could I, as a separate, independent BMS enthusiast start a collection for hosting costs? I’m sure there is a way to do this transparently and thus the team is not asking anyone for money, this is done on a donation basis, and the community is able to help out or say thanks in a more productive way. Seems like a win-win for all involved!
We can even have it so that it’ll just be done for certain times in a year to support, say, hosting costs for 3 months or so after a new release then everything reverts to torrents as usual.
Maybe something for the team to think about?

@Atlas Please let us handle this internally…
The infra management is my responsability and I will not discuss this further for now…
Thank you

Of course! It was just a suggestion, a way for the community to help out or give back.

I am sure some of you might have seen this:
I don’t advertize it too much because I want to see how bandwidth goes with our provider… But that might be a future little revolution in the BMS world
-
@MaxWaldorf Thank you for the information and your work. Keep going.
Greetings.
