No problem, so would block 52 be considered newer older to block 40?Visually I like the look of block 40, but as far as its technically capabilities…

@Tobruk
It is useful to have a rough understanding how the platform evolved over the decades.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Dynamics_F-16_Fighting_Falcon_variants

I think they changad some panels time to time within the same blocks too. You can see the cockpit layout drawing of a block30 on xflight.de differs from an other 30 from the “F-16 Engine run, Iraq” video.

Must be a bug as there is only one option or package in the flight menu.
It is not possible to choose any thing else.
Posted as bug.
Ok. so lets go check: version 4.37? and tell us what training mission you want to do

I think the problem Tobruk is having is with the updated HSI. From what the OP says the training manual shows the old HSI with the selector knob to the left of the HSI. Now it is just the M button on the bottom of the display that changes modes on the HSI.

I haven’t flown the AAR training mission in 4.37, but I believe one of the flights on it is a Block 40/42 with the WAR HUD. There are a couple non-USAF Block 50/52(+) variants that use that WAR HUD too, but those variants aren’t used in the training missions.

50/52 are the same except for the engine. The 50 is the GE, and the 52 the PW. The engines are more powerful and slightly more fuel efficient that the earlier models. There is no reason to fly anything else, as the older blocks are not entirely accurate. I’d love to see a fully modelled F-16A Block 5 short tail, but I guess that’ll stay on the wishlist.

@Carbide Exactly. To my understanding the updated HSI now just has a single M button that I assume functions as the old selector knob.
To be clear to all at the outset of this post, I was just wondering if I was able to switch the block number to match the lesson.

@Tobruk You can, if you wish, edit the file type of the ILS training mission (TRN to TAC if I remember correctly) and then change the F16 block to suit.
-
@danster Thanks, what directory are the training mission found?
-
@Tobruk I think all the missions are in the Campaign folder if I remember correctly. Search TRN or TAC
