Silly question, is there a civilan traffic in the game?
-
Hello,
thanks for the good work… many thanks too all the devs!
I am not good pilot, or an expert in flight bms.But I wonder if in BMS, there is a civillan traffic in the game. I just imagine scenarios where from the player come from a “normal” situation to an urgent scramble… I imagine the rush to the interceptor vector, and handling multiple identification before finding an intruders…
Just wondering if this kind of scenarios are possible in the TE editor.
Again thanks for all the good work from Open falcon to the Flight BMS 4.37.

I don’t think it is possible in a Campaing…
But in a TE why not, some transport or tanker with a civilian skin…or maybe there is a civilian aircraft mod around. -
Campaign strives for realism, so - none to be found in an active shooting zone.
If anybody does make such a TE, it would - as evidenced by the plethora of civilian traffic threads - be very popular.

@Aragorn - actually, there should/could be civilian traffic at the boundaries of a battle area in RL - it would get vectored to deconflict, but sometimes would be visible beyond a bogey, in the background, which would deny a shot for not having a clear field of fire. This would be totally realistic.
I’d certainly like to see this!

In my opinion civil traffic will not be necessary, the same dynamic campaign gives allied targets flying in enemy and friendly territory. I tell my experience, the other days flying in the server of the wing, I come with my feet on the back of my neck chased by a couple of Mig-29S, I enter friendly territory and I keep running, due to the lack of supplies the friendly anti-aircraft defense did not He makes effective shots with which the enemy decides to do a beaming to flank the allied SAMs on the field, at that moment with almost bingo I start a dogfight at the cross and we are going to mix, in which we are turning and turning to see what happens to him With the first punch, I fired a 120, what I don’t realize is that between the 29th and I there was a C-17 making resupply to our base and it took a good hit although it was not shot down.
It was not only that occasion, also in a coordinated flight with wing pilots, we were in the hangars and we could see a trail of a Mig-23 that was going to intercept a C-17 that was going to fly over our base, I quickly left the hangar and took off along the same taxiway in an urgent scramble, while trying to differentiate between one target and another I had to hold on not to press the trigger until I had visual confirmation, and when I had it there we got tangled up and gave each other affection.
And this is on our server with the 24/7 campaign in our edited and neutered way so that no object moves and with practically only 3 enemy squads. I am sure that in a full movement campaign these previously mentioned events occur much, but much more often, that is why I do not understand why they need or request that there be civilian planes in full militarized airspace, something that has never happened in real life and those who have dared to puncture a FLOT have been shot down or intercepted to identify and expel or shoot them down.
In my opinion, it is not necessary for civil aircraft in a theater of operations, mainly in a campaign.
greetings.

It would be interesting to learn and experience, how civilian transponders differ from, and interface with, military IFF systems. Judging from the number of horrible tragedies over the years, I’m guessing it’s not as clear and simple as it should be.

There is nothing “in this.” Civilian transponders squawk Mode 3 and Mode C (altitude). US (and others) aircraft that are capable of interrogating transponders can interrogate these modes as well as Mode 1, 2, 4 (encrypted) and the newer Mode 5 (encrypted) IFF. I think NATO countries have been given Mode 5.
I’m not getting into the jamming of IFF or anything like that, but generally speaking, there is no interface issue. Likewise, for the same reasons, IFF alone cannot be used to purely identify whether a contact is a bandit or hostile…rules of engagement have multiple criteria that have to be satisfied in order for an aircraft to shoot at a “hostile.”
