Checklists missing from kneeboard?
-
@MaxWaldorf For sure. Manual could do with correcting though if it is wrong.
-
Manual is not wrong, since WDP has been in use?
I suppose the default pages can be restored in WDP using its “Set Default” button.
-
@jayb How can you say the manual is not wrong? The screenshot clearly states, and I quote, “if you do not use the WDP at all there is a set of default pages ready for use featuring normal checklists on the left knee”.
-
@scubapics the user manual section is outdated.
Your observation is correct.
The old checklists were part of the 3d Kneeboards. The new BMS checklists are not part of it because we have to less pages for now.Manual will be fixed in U3.
3d checklists on Kneeboards:pendingCheers

@Micro_440th thanks for the sanity check.
-
@scubapics So you never used WDP even once? That was the impression I got, sorry if that is not the case
-
Ok. So I have now installed WDP. Watched some tutorials. Got the hang of it. Still no checklists with the default kneepad and no option to add them either unless I take screenshots of each page and insert them as pictures. That’s going to fill up the slots and probably not have enough for all the checklists let alone anything else.
This is a huge setback for VR users.

@scubapics you can still make your own checklists/pull from other sources and use WDP or KBMZ to manage the .DDS files or even drop them in yourself. For the past few versions I always make a backup of the default files in every theater. I probably have the previous checklists that aren’t 100% up to date but usable. I’ll check tonight.
Also you can still use a Virtual Kneeboard app like OpenKneeboards and possibly VRK again soon.
You could also try using a look under facial interface mod. I’m using my normal EFB Android tablet with it and can more easily use my physical MFDs and ICP.

@Snake122 Yeah I am just about to look at open kneeboard. I use that in DCS also.
-
Good suggestion Snake122. I shared a backup copy of the kneeboard images from BMS 4.35 U3 with scubapics.

@scubapics Hi. As Max wrote they are theater dependent, but the good news there is a fix. The Checklist pages have to be in .png format, then they can be inserted via the Weapon Delivery Planner.
If you’re interested in jets with either the Hornet or Fifth Gen cockpits, we can provide those -
I’m looking at open kneeboard now and how I could integrate the output from WDP with it.
Most files generated are jpg or png so they will work. However, some of the jpg files combine left and right kneeboard images. Any non-jpg/png files do not appear to be needed outside of the Falcon executable.
I may investigate writing a program to split these so that they are readable in open kneeboard. I may also see if I can automate importing the files into open kneeboard (moving them to a single area for open kneeboard).
Something like the user picks a Datacard folder that is generated by the WDP, copies the files to a place that open kneeboard picks them up from and splits the double pages into two separate images.

Heads up. I hope that for U2 we will have new checklists on 3d kneebords. I’m working on it.

Super!
For now, my solution is a mixture of the built-in kneeboards which I will use with the WDP and open kneeboard which I will put anything else on such as pdf files (checklists etc).
I can use a USB footswitch to show or hide the open kneeboard which I will probably only use (for now) for checklists.

Thanks for fixing this in U2.
