SA-6 too weak?
-
Hello everyone,
could it be that the SA-6 is much too weak since BMS V4.32? In each of my TE’s I can circle over an SA-6 and the missiles fired miss my F-16 even if I don’t use chaffs (as long as I circle over the area). With BMS V4.32 I think it was much harder to dodge a SA-6 missile.
Here is an example with BMS 4.37 (SA-6 Experience = Veterans):

Well SA-6 is tracking through a ground based tracker…
You’re in high energy turn…I don’t see the problem…

@MaxWaldorf said in SA-6 too weak?:

In RL such target would be a piece of cake kinematically.
It does not matter the ~500 kts speed at 10k. The overload under 3G is meaningless even considering the relative position and heading of the target. -
@Steven is this gulf war theater? I think it’s an intentional easter egg. you’re supposed to shout “Stroke 3 defending! singer 6!” repeatedly until they run out of missiles
(Half joking but serious question – does this theater purposely nerf the SA-6 in some way?)
-
@MaxWaldorf his example proves something is wrong here.
SA6 do not track, which means he do not trying to engage even with high energy.
SA6 shouldnt lose track so easily, its built to kill fighter jets, without Chaffs and ECM it should engage and be dangerous
Moreover his distance is close, not too close, but close enough to track and be very effective@Steven Steven PLEASE try on KTO the same situation. If the behavior is different then the theater guys edited something badly
-
I don’t know where you got that about the theatre.
But, in the Persian Gulf - The SA-6 system is very dangerous. -
This appears to be a bug. We will look into it. If you can post your flight parameters that would be helpful for replication.
-
@vAiCon ok
Anyway, need a repro case on KTO to be valid…

It’s been replicated… now we assess the issue…

@mirv
Yes… indeed. But it doesn’t happen everytime… I saw this behavior, once or twice, circling over Taskforce (Type53H3) … they shot every missile in arsenal and none locked on me - so it seemed - I’ve rejected it as BMS “restart” quirk - flying same mission 10 times in a row .
Thanks for finding the issue. (btw is not only Sa-6 issue) -
@white_fang check fix for U2
-
SA-6 is working properly again! Many thanks!
-
Yeah … now… SA-11/17 would want some love too
(btw BMS database “thinks” it is the same missile - but it is not) -
Ok think I figured reason for SA-11/SA-17 behavior , firing “fan” of missiles , but none lock - all miss.
Please check with guys (I’m not master of vehicle data), but in my yesterday test… got nicely shot down pretty much from 20-35nm - NOT fail
Misdata, SA-11.dat: (since SA11/17 share same vehicle)# Missile loft time 10.000000 Changed to: 0 (zero) , maybe 0.5 ? - it is not VLS!
Now… VLS/notVLS … there will be option for upgrade/update … SA-11 (
KUBBUK - Russian) is not vls 100% … olderKUBBUK(M1)…
SA-17probablyis VLS , but that’s very newerKUBBUK(M2/M3) … since it has 2-12 “tubes” (depends if carried on TEL/TELAR) , unlike 4 missiles on ramp/rails TELAR for SA-11So, SA11/17 are same family (
KUBBUK), but (very) different systems.
@molnibalage is our GOD in this matter
He may have few “cents/kopeyke” to spare.Cheers
(yeah, I had few mistakes… KUB is only SA-6 … SA-11 is already BUK-M1 system, till today SA17 (BUK-M2/3))
