ADDED MSAA x4 anti-aliasing to 2D and 3D views (basically free since Tacview is CPU bound)
Hi,
Is !not basically free - only tacview 95% gpu in process explorer.Need performance real-time telem , on 2nd monitor - my gpu fans are going nuts.
Is there a way to disable this 4xAA … cmdline switch ?
Thanks
-
@white_fang Hi, are you reporting that this is a new issue with the latest update?
-
@white_fang Try with Tacview 1.8.8 - I don’t think you will see any difference - we certainly tested extensively: https://www.tacview.net/download/archive/
You won’t be able to do real-time telemetry of course, but just replay a flight - real-time telemetry itself does not cost more resources.
Are you experiencing poor performance during real-time telemetry?
Speaking of command line switches, you can use /DisplayFrameRate:true to check the frame rates.
-
@jc1 Thank you, this is very helpful. I have an idea: try opening the INI file by going through the File → Merge command, being sure to select the correct Falcon 4.0 Theatre:
-
@BuzyBee You are correct. I had the wrong theater selected in Tacview. Thanks for your advice.

Thanks. Well, is not an issue. (it is a feature )
Yes I’ve already tried with said switch , but n/a - no effect, same impact on gpu.
-tried also making gpu/app profile to high performance mode, meh, didn’t do nothing special eitherI can revert to 1.8.8, but it somehow defeat the purpose as I need it for real-time telemetry , which downversion does not support.
Since BMS and tacview are now set to using AA (BMS x8 , TacView 4x) - imagine … my poor gpu is screaming for air.
It would be nice if (as long time ago) when you could override AA pref with gpu/app profile then turn it off… but is not the case anymore … it is purely app controlled - no way to force it off if application alone can’t request it in off state.
I can try (and will try) to force it on bare minimum 2xAA on both BMS/TacView , will see…
But… It would be better if TacView could control AA state itself - ON/OFF … eh, kinda normal?
(I mean, what’s the point in AA at all, for diagnostic software ? yes… “bricks” will have antialiased jugs … well…
somehow, overkill where’s performance is what it counts more, - so dudes who are actively tracking real in-flight recordings can’t do it anymore with celeron , they need Gen7- just my 22kopeyke)Cheers

@white_fang I honestly don’t believe that you will see any difference if you do turn off the MSAA x 4. In all of our testing we do not see any difference. That’s why there is currently no option to turn it off.
If you are experiencing poor performance during real time telemetry, such as lag or low frame rates, I would love to know more about it. If so, please share an ACMI or VHS file.
-
@jc1 Tacview should have understood that the INI file was intended for use with the ACMI file that was currently open. Thanks for reporting this bug.

OK . How to turn OFF AA ?

FINE we will add an option in the next beta /MSAA:false (available in the next beta only)

@BuzyBee (Thank You)
-
@BuzyBee the tacview data don’t match with those in game
at the same time, we have some differences with altitude , speed , mach number
case 1
case 2
-
@suhkoi69 Thanks for reporting this. First please make sure you have selected Falcon terrain in Tacview. This could help with the calculations and especially the altitude.
Also could you please share an ACMI file and report which telemetry values are not matching up at which timestamps, and by how much? For altitude please specify AGL or ASL and for speed please specify TAS, CAS or IAS.
You can send the info to [email protected] if you like.
-
here the terrain doesn’t change the altitude value : I compared the Altitude ASL
-
@suhkoi69 Thanks for sending your analysis by email. I realized that these values will differ because Tacview does not take into account the temperature and atmospheric pressure. The Falcon BMS team could consider exporting these values (MACH, CAS, IAS). We will mention it to our contact on the dev team.

Falcon BMS 4.37 Vanilla
KTOdoes not match the Lat and Long coordinates of the simulator with those of TACVIEW, terrain in Falcon 4.0 and coordinates compatible with the BMS format.
Can you confirm if someone has the same problem?

Here is the campaign and the acmi file, as you can see the aircraft moves and points directly over the patriot rdr installation, there the lat and long were taken in the sim and then compared in the acmi.Let me know if you need anything else. I hope it’s helpful. we need those coordinates to match to do accurate debriefing on our wing.
