@AXiAMWoLFE How do we access the airport charts and other files please? I had a look through the Falcon BMS folder/subfolders and could not seem to find them.
X:\Falcon BMS 4.37\Docs\
There you find multiple folders.
BMS Manuals are in “00 BMS Manuals”.
Charts are in “03 KTO Charts”. -
@Micro_440th Thankyou, found them .

Great topic, @Atlas. The openKneeboard instructions on Github are, well, not there (not on the Wiki at least)
The documentation links are on the download (release) page - I’ve also added them to the wiki now

Brilliant, thank you very much

@hiuuz yep, this should work, as long as Falcon BMS is listed in Settings -> Games

@Atlas On my voyage of discovery with OpenKneeboard I just found that you can connect a new tab to a folder (that contains images etc) rather than a specific file.
This means you can choose X:\Falcon BMS 4.37\Docs\03 KTO Charts to get every airport in the KTO, or one of the subfolders such as X:\Falcon BMS 4.37\Docs\03 KTO Charts\01 South Korea or down to the next level to get specific airports.
This method will display all the files in the folder and any nested subfolder and seems to do so in alphabetical order of the folder names. You could use this to create a preferred sort order by prefixing the folder names with 01, 02 etc.
It does make for a few key presses to get to Gunsan within the South Korea folder for instance, but it seems tolerable to me.
-
@Kiwispirits I’ve made a separate airports folder in my user directory, and just copied the pngs I want from KTO charts into there, saves me having hundreds.
-
@rubbra Excellent idea

If anyone’s interested, I’ve written a very simple windows app that will monitor your BMS\user\briefings directory for new html briefing colored textfiles and auto-convert them to pdf so that they can be displayed nicely in OpenKneeboards.
Use case:
- Turn on html briefings in bms config
- start my console app at some point, leave it running
- Start a flight, go to briefing, click print
- It’ll create a briefing.pdf in your user\briefings directory
- Configure OpenKneeboard to have a tab from a file - BMS\user\briefings\briefing.pdf - and it’ll automatically pick up that new briefing
it’s not pretty, it’s probably not massively well written (it’s my first Windows/dotnet thing, being a UNIX/Linux programmer), and no doubt there are things I can do to make it smaller. But here it is -
Should be a case of unzip it somewhere, and run pdf_briefing.exe when you start BMS. It’ll look for your BMS 4.37 installation folder by picking up the registry key.
-
@rubbra I use linknet’s AutoKneepads which generates .png files from the briefing. However, OpenKneeboard must be started AFTER the briefing is “printed” or the OpenKneeboard profile must be reloaded AFTER the briefing is “printed” so that it shows the correct info.
-
@Atlas or you can do reload tab - I wish there was a keybind for that.
-
@Atlas oKB shouldn’t need reloading; it should be notified on file change by Windows apparently -
“For file- and folder- based tabs and pages, OpenKneeboard asks windows to tell it when the file/folder is modified, then automatically reloads the tab/page; if this isn’t working for you, could you open a thread in #help over in the openkneeboard discord?”
-
@rubbra I didn’t know that, I’ll ask. Thanks!
-
@Atlas no problem - the bit in quotes was from the developer of openkneeboard on the FL discord

Hello OpenKneeboard users,
wondering if anybody interested in getting kneeboards generated from briefings with EZBoards, to be used in OpenKneeboard?
It’s easy to do.
Just tell me how you would use the briefing pages in Openkneeboard.
Probably better to have two separate pages instead of a double-page currently generated by EZBoards?
Then would you put them in a folder and open the folder in one OKB tab or open them in separate tabs? -
@Logic i just use EZ boards with open kneebord since January. Make them to generate two seperate Pages.

Hi, yes.
Best to use separate pages instead of double ones.
Thanks -
@Nightflyer Hi, are you saying you’re already doing that with two pages? Are you using the commented part of EZBoard code for this? And if so, how did you setup the Openkneeboard tab?
-
Hello.
I´m trying to use right mouse button to change between KNEEBOARD_T.O. BMS1F-16CM-1CL-1 carpets, but mouse cursor is transparent to openkneeboard.
Somebody knows what is the option I need to activate?.
Thx
-
@Skorp mouse doesn’t work in OpenKneeboard…you need to bind keys.
With openkneeboard you can only use a tablet’s pen (I have wacom Intuous S).
With that one you can also write notes and so on the kneeboard (ex 9 line, or tick checlist stuff).
