UI-Map: PPTs and lines disappearing
-
Has anyone else experienced this issue in the 2D-planning map - when creating or moving PPTs or lines, they somehow vanish before my eyes.
In some cases, they show up only at maximum zoom, but nevertheless, they cannot be saved to DTC.A few times this happened: When moving a point of a line, it suddenly zapped far outside of the map borders and could only be fixed by correcting the coordinates in the corresponding campaign.ini.
It seems as my PPT databank got corrupted in some way. Did I overload it anyhow, and what can I do to fix it?
I am flying in Balkans, Balance of Power, day 6 - although I am not sure if the issue is theater-related. -
@Amadeus75 The same thing happened to me in KTO, in the campaign and TE. I never found out why, I could fix it for a while by deleting all the lines and PPTs using the WDP
-
@Amadeus75 had something similar a couple of weeks ago. An endpoint of a series of lines somehow found itself placed well north and off the map. Had to delete it out of the ini file. One and only time it’s happened.
-
@Amadeus75
I also get this problem when I try to adjust a waypoint (re:Wpt 2) when my zoom level is at maximum. Waypoint #2 disappears off the map.To replace this waypoint #2 on the map, I can remove it from the waypoint details panel, going to wpt2, press DELETE button. Then I reinsert a new WPT between the current WPT1 and WP2.
For me, this only happens when my zoom level is at max. No problem is that I’m not going to close on the map. Appear in BMS 4.37 only.

Can you guys please confirm/provide
- Stock KTO
- Step by step what are you doing
- Screenshot when that happened
-
I tried to make a little video.
Unfortunately, it’s not Stock KTO… but as Leandro said, it does not seem to be theater related.The issue only occurs when you are working at maximal zoom factor.
Checking the campaign.ini, disappearing or displaced points show a negative value (a minus) then. -
I bring this up only because it might be related:
Starting with 4.37, when you go to the 2D map, highlight a mission, and click on a plane, the map displays the steerpoints, but the map is always overzoomed a bit now, so I always have to ‘unzoom’ at least 2 or 3 mousewheel clicks to see the entire flightpath.
-
@Amadeus75 Vielen Dank, Norbert.
So, points go crazy when you zoom out.
Can I ask you to repeat in KTO and see if is the same behavior? No video required.

Been so at least since I joined (4.33), if I remember correctly. Using lines for borders and coasts, but having to zoom out. In any theaters, obviously.
-
@tiag Keine Ursache
I just went to KTO, created a quick TE from scratch and started a new campaign as well.
No problem here, everything works like it should.Went back to Balkans and did the same.
TE went fine.
But in new campaign the issue is there right from the beginning.Maybe it’s really a Balkans thing?
But I could swear it did not persist from the beginning but started only after a few days in my campaign.
Perhaps just my machine broke up, or re-installing Balkans could solve the problem.@tiag said in UI-Map: PPTs and lines disappearing:

Well, to be precise - not all points. Only those which are edited or created at max zoom.
But going crazy is the right term, yeah -
@Amadeus75 I cant reproduce in KTO, neither in a TE nor in the campaign. All perfect here.
I had some problem with the ATO window snapping to up left side of the screen in 4.37, but never observed this behavior with the lines.
Does that happen only in Balkans for you?
-
@tiag I can reproduce only in Balkans so far. TE and Campaign.
Let me check ITO… -
@tiag said in UI-Map: PPTs and lines disappearing:

Affirm.
But Balkans is the theater I use mostly.Yes, the snapping ATO window is something I know as well.
Thanks for checking and reproducing! -
@Amadeus75 In ITO does not happen.
OK…we are narrowing.Many windows and functions are shared by the TE and CAM to edit the map, add flights etc. No surprise that both have issues.
Let me compare some stuff in the UI… -
@tiag
Great detectives work!
A case for Cougar? -
@Amadeus75 Balkans seems safe in regard to the UI.
It is strange that only appears here and not in KTO.
It requires more investigation. -
@tiag Big thanks for checking!
Though, I would not take out of consideration that it could occur in other theaters as well - maybe not at the beginning but only after a while, maybe after a week in campaign.Well, I did quite a lot of editing in my current campaign by myself. I crafted many extra packages as well, corrected many flight paths and made a lot of points and lines.
Of course it could be “pilot’s fault” as well - the possibility is high that I pressed a wrong button and gave a hiccup to the system.
-
@Amadeus75 Alles gut…there is an issue which appears in Balkans very easily, but not on the other theaters. This def needs to be investigated.
I hope that it also solves the ATO snapping window thing that I have constantly in all theaters. -

Thats simple: It is because the automatic zoom aligns your most northern and your most southern waypoint on the edges of the SCREEN, not the map window (because the menus are overlays). Could be solved by adding a percentage margin or so. But I think it’s really low priority for the devs.
But did someone already see this: On the entire upper border of the map window is a dead zone insensitive for right click. So when not magnified to the max, you cannot Add Package/Status/Recon/… i.e. the russian airbase. Nothing urgent…
-
@Atze-0
I confirm the deadzone. AWACS and tankers like flying there, so it’s always a little tricky to know their callsign without zooming in.
But as you say - no big thing.
