AAR Basket skin case

Huh, figured I was lookin at the wrong lod/parent, 2205 and 2206 which are only hose sections connectors.
So, now need to identify hose sections itself as they are luminescent ones. then it will be piece of cake , tex wise
Cheers
p.s. if you remember hose lod parent ? okā¦ if not ā¦ ok

I donāt believe that RL hoses or baskets are lighted, or have any sort of NVG markings on themā¦however, they may have reflective markings. Dunno for certain.
Iāll have to ask some pilots, but I also have a feeling that NVGs are to be removed when plugging - I think this is the case because on a Hornet (and others that I know of) there is a bright spotlight that comes on when the Probe is deployed which illuminates the basket, and AFAIK there is no way to turn it on or off. This would cause the NVGs to bloom, and as such would dictate having to remove them when plugging.
-
That seems to be the case for the F-14 as well. So no light on the basket itself, but the probe compartment on the jet has lights. Can be seen at this time stamp:
But then again, the basket may have been given lighting/illumination in more recent years:

@jayb - Iāve been working alongside Naval Aviators for the last 38 years (up to right now) and Iāve never heard of such.
Not to mention that lighting the hose/basket would only make it that much easier to shoot a tanker down, as well as alerting a bogey that there were also low-state pigeons in tow. Making it a GOOD time to start shootingā¦I once worked with a guy that told me of flying cover for tanking jets over Viet Nam. And actually downing a Mig during that sortie.

you do realize that the video corroborates what you said ?
-
@jayb - affirmative. I was just trying to point out that Iām not aware of any ārecent changesā.

@Stevie what is strange ?
-
@Radium - Iām not sure if itās the colors, or the motion, or the texture, or that there is a LOT of sim/gaming video out there being passed off as ārealā these days, or that I have a strong feeling that there has never been any F-35 onboard video declassified (I know Iāve never seen any)ā¦or all of the above.
Iāve been looking at fighter onboard video for 38 years, and this just doesnāt look ārightā to me, for some reason.
-
@Stevie I donāt know. To me, it looks very legit.
-
@Radium - a lot of such video does look legit these days, but itās not. Iāve even had some of it fool my former bossā¦something about it is off, based on my experience. But I canāt really say just what it is.
EDIT - ok, Iāll believe this oneā¦but it still looks weird to meā¦probably just because Iām used to green.
-
@Stevie Yeah but in the case of this one, I have zero reason to believe that itās fake !
-
@Radium - me tooā¦now. I needed further evidence.
