Saitek X-52PRO Profile UPDATED 3-30-12
-
Running into a major issue here… I have setup everything exactly as you have it, yet my radar tilt and range won’t work, nor will my ministick slew my radar cursor… I’ve tried everything I can think of, please let me know if you have any suggestions!
EDIT: My speed brakes don’t work either…
Have you setup The advanced stuff too, like below? And loaded The correct keyfile too?

Yes, It actually appears to me that it doesn’t pick up any commands that are relying on the programming software. I have the profiles selected and everything. I did manage to get the radar tilt and range working, but if I can’t move the cursor it doesn’t do me much good lol
EDIT: It has become clear after trying with several other profiles and games that it is something to do with the SST program… Its a start at least lol.
EDIT: Solved! I reverted back to a previous version of the SST (ver 6.6.6.9) and it works now! So far so good! Thanks HD!

Can’t get the profile to populate in SST ver 7.0.2.7 (WIN7 x64) … anyone know where I can get a down-rev version for x64 machines?
Cheers
Update - found a version at ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/SST_Software_64_6_6_6_9.exe
It does not seem to work either, there are no key bindings assigned to the buttons (modes all look the same, stock settings).
I must be doing something wrong, any guesses?

I have Smart_Technology_7_0_2_7_64bit running perfectly.
After installing you get a new folder inside your public folder named Saitek profiles or something. Place the .pr0 file in there. Then when you open the program, click on the small folder to open a file and select that one. Works everytime for me. -
OK, I’m an idiot …. somewhere along the line, as I was installing things, the profile got wiped back to zero. I DL’d it again, moved it to the docs. folder and the commands look good.
Go figure!
Thanks for listening… Time to fly a test flight

OK, everything seems to work …. except the mini-stick (radar cursors) and the Rotary1 (range knob). I have the clutch unchecked in the MFD settings and the range knob is set in the Avionics panel.
Anyone have a idea where to look next?
Update:
range knob still seems to do nothing
mouse works, kind of, … very touchy and occasionally L/R movement “freezes” the sim while it runs away … pushing back the other way can stop it, but the lights on the stick “flicker” like something was very busy. Going to play with the mouse deadzones to see if I can tame it.Strange
-
I changed the deadbands and it helps … it was the cursor left that causes the freeze. I changed the cursor movements back to the PC cursor arrows, and now it does not hang.
Range knob still does nothing … anyone know what it’s suppose to do?

Hard Deck I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have X52 PRO and loaded your profile and key file (downloaded from your link). First I went in and assigned TMS and DMS but could not find CMS on your stick or throttle diagram. I then assigned the joystick axes and radar knobs. Next I went in the game (I am a total newbie) and tried things out. Well the joystick works as does the radar knobs. Not sure I know enough to test TMS or DMS (DMS changes the MFD’s) but when I went to test the Fire button I got nothing. Same went for Chaff as well as all of the Toggle switches. It seems like many of the “No Key Assigned” do not have the joystick buttons assigned either. It also looks like you can’t see what button is assigned for a function. I goofed around a bit and assigned the toggles and they seem to work now. What could I be doing wrong? The problem is I don’t know enough about the Falcon functions to know what else doesn’t work and not being able to see if a button is really assigned to those “No Key Assigned” I really can’t tell what is or what isn’t. Should these “No Key Assigned” that are suppose to be assigned joystick buttons. Off the top the only thing I can think of is that my X52 Pro is showing up as Saitek X52 Pro Flight Controller (2). Could that be causing these issues? Any help would be appreciated. As a retired IT Professional I think I should be able to handle something that seems simple.

Well I went back to an image of my hard drive and started from scratch… loading the Saitek drivers and software. I then reinstalled Falcon BMS and put your profile and key file on. I am having much better luck this time as the controller is showing up like it should. I go into the Instant Flight and now I can see the Chaff, Exterior Lighting toggles are all working. I still don’t see the guns yet but maybe I have to do something to get them to work… I said I was a newbie to BMS. Not sure I see the Mode switch doing what I think it should… but it is getting late so I will look into that tomorrow.

probably a no-brainer, but is your jet armed?

Don’t forget the chaff/flare and the mfd setup for al mastermodes (nav, à-à, à-g, mrm, dgf) need to be set by you in The datacartridge. By default you won’t get much!
If you don’t understand what this all means, I suggestie you look at soms of The video tutorials of Tanit. -
Thanks for your replies
Well I am using tanit’s Data Cartridge from his Youtube video
and like I said I have chaff working. I could not get the guns to fire until I went and bound "Second Trigger Detent " to “Wpn-Fire Gun” and the guns work now. I still don’t know enough to fire a missile but I do know I have some because I checked and I can also see them from an external view.Is there anywhere to see what joystick buttons are assigned to which keybinds? If not I would think that would be a future quirk fix.

Not sure how ‘new’ you are but here are some newbie situations that might resolve your issue: to be able to fire a missile, you need to be in either A-A, or one of the 2 override modes (Dogfight or MRM) for starters. Next, be sure to check of your Master Arms switch is set to armed and not safe or sim. Also, except when in ‘bore’ mode, you need a lock on an object before you can fire. Lastly, if you try to fire AMRAAMs, you need to hold the pickle button for about 2 seconds because your flight computer needs to send data to the missile before it can launch.
-
Well I just now had found the Dogfight override switch and the missiles fired off… so on to the next step. Thanks

You can see the button assignments in a few ways … in the Falcon controller setup, they should appear when you hit the button (if they are defined to Falcon). If you view the .key file (BMS-HD.key) in notepad, they are listed at the bottom of the file.
They look something like this:
SimWheelBrakes 0 8 -2 0 0x0 0
SimPickle 1 8 -2 0 0x0 0
SimCATSwitch 2 8 -2 0 0x0 0
SimPinkySwitch 3 8 -2 0 0x0 0
SimDropChaff 4 8 -2 0 0x0 0
…
The first number is the button #To file a missile, you need several things: Master arm on, be in DGFT, MSL, or A-A radar mode, and a target locked (otherwise you’ll get a mad-dog). Missile release (pickle) will fire quickly if a heat is selected, it requires a long press to fire a RADAR.

Anyone know what the “range knob” is supposed to do …. doesn’t do anything on mine.
Cheers

I just want to day a big THANK YOU !
You are the reason HARD~DECK that I just bought a X-52 Pro because I saw that you already figured out everything.
It is real nice I have such a good working profile with all necessary things already set.
Thanks man for the hard work.
