Cannot lock in TGP

Hi,
hard to say.
Could you record a short video?cheers

TGP as SOI? (controlled with DMS)

From my dealings in the past, if you are trying to command point track and the cursor locks and then just flies away, you’re getting some spike or such pulling the cursor off the intended target.

@igorry similar thread … for some reason it’s always re X52 Pro
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/367780break this down into parts…
1- use an app like VKB JoyTester to ensure your thumbstick is really acting as analog axes… and behaving reliably
2- ensure the cursor is mapped to those axes, in both AL and BMS Setup/Controllers/Advanced screens … ensure deadzone=Small or Medium
3- failing all that … post a short video snip. ([win+G] to open xbox game-bar)

Thanks guys for the input. I will try to get a video. @ b0bl00i, the TGP is SOI, As mentioned in the first post, I was able to do the same mission and lock through TGP using the Ch Pro Throttle mini stick. So I think it is not a mechanization problem of using TGP. Regarding whether it is a spike issue, that is a possibility. I place the cursor on the target, then tms up, the cursor gets moved away. However I must say I have never get a lock no matter how careful I try to steady the cursor.
At the moment I have switch back to my Ch throttle. However I prefer the x52 pro throttle because of the throw and the possibility of fine control especially when it comes to air to air refueling. The problem with x52 pro for me at the moment is the ministick. I will try to get a video when I plug back my x52 pro.

@igorry If there’s any doubt about your thumbstick reliability (which is a likely culprit for the problem, remove the cursor axis mapping temporarily, and use keys to slew to test. (SimCursor…Up/down/left/right mapped to SHIFT up/down/left/right…Arrow keys from the basic keyfile)

Thanks for the advice. I have the x52pro throttle plugged and unplugged into another computer a few times and tested the axis there. I also threaten to mothball it for good if it still gives me problem. Well, when I plug it back to my bms computer, it worked again! I am able to lock in TGP. So all is good at the moment.
However I am thinking of gutting the x52pro mouse stick out one day and replace it with a proper thumb stick connected to a Bodnar board.
Igorry.

@igorry If you going down the bodnar route, might consider making yourself a button box to use its additional outputs. You would just need to run a cable from it to the throttle, for the mouse stick.

Thanks for the suggestion. Well I have actually modded my x52 pro throttle by adding more buttons to it and switch the z axis to the Bodnar board from the original saitek board. The saitek board is 8 bit but the bodnar board is 12 bit which I think is better. I have added 9 buttons, 2 three way switch and 4 rotaries to the handle and throttle box itself. This is done by drilling holes in the throttle handle and box and wiring it to the bodnar box. Only thing I didn’t do is the ministick, that requires a new mini stick and fitting it into the handle. That may require more skills that I have at the moment. The other thing to do is to know how to dampen the movement of throttle so it sticks or holds to a certain position when push to that position. 2 things to sort out and the throttle would be good.

@igorry Excellent! I’m sure some of the pit builders here will help you with the mod. Good luck
