SweetFX for BMS
-
Hi,
I was looking but didn’t see any info about SweetFX running with BMS, so I’m posting here.
I’ve tried running it and it works quite nice!
it also runs with higher FPS - if I disable my MultiSampling and enable SweetFX’s.
It may work with any DX 9, 10 ,11 games running a 32BIT exe (at the moment), and some games have it embedded in their graphic options (like ARMA 2 ).Some links to explain what SweetFX is all about:
http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/have_you_tried_sweetfx_already.html
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=368880
I hope that at least parts of it could be incorporated in a future BMS update in the Graphics options, tweaked with a slider or something.
I’ve posted some screenshots of very early trials messing with the settings, there are many parameters to tweak and reach the quality of graphics you like,
(Vibrance, Sharpening, SMAA_ANTIALIASING, Bloom, HDR etc’…).It’s a split screen pictures here, the right half is with the mod enabled,
the left is running as default - graphics at max without MultiSampling enabled, in real time.Pictures are of an IAF -F16I (Sufa) with mixed weapons just for the demo, flying over ITO Ver. 0.96 (Thanks Echo!).
Cheers“Setup”.

Holy crap

Wow……
How do you install/use it with BMS?
-
A bit cartoonish… We are running aways from RL experience. Do not compare with real pictures, you can’t because of camera settings …
The following 4 pictures has been taken at 30s interval… According to you, wich of those pic are closer to RL … ?
@ CrazyTom: You do not have the right to play!

Very interesting alternative to the current “post processing shader” solution …hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!??!?
How you get it to work with BMS …putting those files in the root on in the bin folder or in the data folde doesnt work for me.

Looks fine to me, but it may be my monitor. In the OP’s un-altered pictures the colors look very dry and dark, almost like an underexposed photograph. The processed pictures look much better to me. The desert, especially. It goes from looking like dirty chalk to an actual desert with the FX.

wow looks really great and increases the FPS??? double wow…
Cartoonish???
Looks U can tune it… Current glare effects are also cartoonish or better exaggerated… -
Doesn’t appear to work for me. BMS crashes at startup. Uninstalling SweetFX resolves the problem.

How’d you get it to work?
-
well, as I said, you can set it up however you like. if it’s too cartoonish - you can even turn down vibrance to negative values and make in black and white.
that’s the beauty of it - totally adjustable (even too much - can be confusing), and you can make it look like a 60’s movie with sepia and vignette on…
All up to youAbout installation:
there are 2 parts, one part goes to the Bin\x86 folder - (4 files) and the other goes to Data folder (4 files+SweetFX folder).
I’m posting the folder tree view here.
don’t forget first to disable MultiSampling to make it work.
there is an injector.ini file that allows you to set your desired keys to enable/disable the mod in game, take screenshots and inject changes you made on the fly.
and of course the setting file where you set everything…
read the readme and start having fun playing with it.
post screen shots here with your settings configuration so we can all learn from it and possibly reach an optimum setting.
Attached is my current settings which are in progress. Do try to make your own and post it.Cheers!

One issue guys with SoftTH (For 3 monitors) also use the same dll d3d9.dll so what happens here? we loose the SoftTH?
How can we make them work together? Or the dll covers SoftTH also?EDIT: First read on the forums says that the dll works for both so there must be no problem going to test it…

Thank’s ron533,
I’ve already got the installation, except the dxgi.fx resist in the Data folder here.
To me Falcon was always to dark (maybe it’s just my monitor), so I always wanted to
increase gamma settings, but in newer Nvidia drivers a game profile depended Gamma setting was removed.Sooo SweetFX solved my problems.
Thank’s ron, … great find.
Cheers,

wow fps improvement is hard to believe! how much?
and the brightness does look better!
-
You’re welcome LZ!
Glad it can sort out things as well…About FPS improvements - you should remember to check it without the MOD first and MultiSapmpling on, and then check it off, and run the MOD again with it’s method of AA.
it can vary according to your AA settings as well, as you can see - there is allot to tweak there….
In ARMA 2 it is implemented (with sharpening as an option) in game and replaces the classic AA, allowing noticeably higher FPS. -
Hi, thanks for this, cant wait to try. This reminds me of a mod for FSX, that tweaked the bloom settings etc and worked with a .dll hook, in a similar way. Thanks again!
cheers, Mark

Can this be made with some sort of sunglass shape instead of fullscreen?
This could give me the feeling of wearing raybans! :uham: -
can you create instractions or youtube video how the fix can be applied ?
-
I found this tutorial:
But it doesn’t work for me. With SweetFX installed BMS crashes on startup. After uninstalling it works fine.
-
Will take a look anyway … Amraam is telling me we should have look to that stuff… maybe could be interesting.
Thank you Ron for heads up.
