Tobii Head-Eye tracking ...works for BMS Falcon
-
Yes! I have finally a solution to my Tobii tracking working and my experience is great
However, in order to communicate with Falcon BMS (solved it last night) it needs to work along with “FaceTrackNoIR” that has developed a suitable plugin “Tobii5 headtracker plugin” and there you have it…
Runs smooth 6df and I didn’t even touch the curves for fine tuning…
I use system of Windows 10 pro on i-7, 32 GB ram, RTX 3070 Ti, Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog)
Pros: it works, it’s 6df capable…
Cons: Tobii 5 was somewhat expensiveI will try to fine tune it but I am ok for now as it is…
Have fun flying the BEST sim - Falcon BMS!
Looking forward for 4.38 … -
Hey @LoneWolf thanks for posting your settings and stuff.
Can you comment on whether installing FaceTrackNoIR messes up using the Tobii in other sims? I use it in MSFS and don’t want to mess things up royally (it’s why I havent been playing BMS since I got the Tobii…)
Thanks for any insight!

@jstnj
I use only BMS and DCS for simulation so I can’t really form an opinion regarding MSFS. I would guess no but it’s only a guess. As long as I don’t invoke FaceTrack before DCS starts DCS performs fine. That is all I can say. However install it and de-install it if it causes problems for your PC setup in my opinion. Trial and error gets you from A to B, that’s my motto or luck favors the brave …
Best of luck and keep flying my friend. -
Hi !
I am trying to setup Tobii Eye tracking 5 with BMS.
One question… I see that in the filter setting of FaceTrackNoir, you have “AccelaFilter MK2”.
Since I have not installed the plugin package, I guess that’s why the only option I see is “EMWA Filter Mk2”.
Do you remember if you on top of the FaceTrackNoir program, you installed the plugin package and then the Tobii Eye tracker plugin on top of that ?
OR only the main program and the Tobii Eye tracking plugin ?When I launch BMS, the view is fixed and it look like it is not activated…
Thanks for any help ! -
A video showing how it looks in the sim would be good… can you post a video?

@mirv
Hi,
now it works, I forgot to install the FreeTrack protocol.
The only thing I would need to adjust is to disable the eye tracking, if possible.
In all the other programs, this option is available, but I don’t know how to do it (if possible) in FaceTrackNoIR.
What happen right now is that if I look left and right, (moving only my eyes) without moving my head, the view in the cockpit turn left and right… and that’s something I would want to avoid.
Any suggestion as to how to do it, basically only tracking my head instead of the eyes ?
Thanks ! -
Sorry, no idea…I don’t have one, which is why I was curious how it actually worked and what it was doing in the sim.

I just looked at open track and apparently they are including a Tobii eye tracker module now along with all the rest. I’m curious how it performs with BMS. I don’t have a Tobii eye tracker so can’t test it.

now works without facetracknoir, opentrack set to tobii input, accela filter, adjust mapping to your liking

Morning all,
I have the Tobii 5 and it works well in DCS. I’ve read a few posts on this forum regarding use in BMS but shied away from dabbling with additional software such as facetrack or similar.
Is anyone here able to explain in an idiot proof manner exactly how I go about setting mine up for BMS please?
Kind Regards,
Gary
