Unsolved AAR Bug?

Bug Reporting: AAR, Simplified und Realistic.
Version: BMS 4.37 U3.2 Build:1358, Vanill
Description:
HelloWhen we want to do an AAR on our flight evening, we have a problem with the tankers KC10 and KC135. We fly the AAR on Simplified. The first flight receives fuel, but the second flight does not, even though the tanker gives the go-ahead to boom. Even logging out and logging in again doesn’t help. A second tanker that is 45nm away from the first and flies parallel to the first shows the same behavior.
The AAR on "Realistic doesn’t work at all. I then started a series of tests and tested the behavior in different theaters. The same behavior there too.
We have had this behavior since BMS 4.32. In every version there was always the problem that, despite correctly logging in and out of the tanker, another flight didn’t get any fuel. As I said, we fly the AAR on Simplified. Whether one or 2 tankers
are set doesn’t matter. Since we have been traveling in BMS for 20 years and always handle the refueling procedures correctly, I think that it is not the pilot’s fault that the refueling process does not work. There are around 10-12 pilots on our flight evening.
Unfortunately, AAR “Realistic” doesn’t work at all. Log in to the tanker OK. Fly up to the boom and wait. However, there was no sound from the operator and no light signals either
Tanker. The AI wingmen then flies to the boom and immediately gets fuel.?The test series was carried out on our squadron server as well as on the pilots’ servers, always with the same result.
I created 2 TE’s and used them as a reference for the test series.
Refuel KC10 with 2Ship. Tested on relay servers and private servers and offline.
Here you can best see that both Viper Fuel get on Simplified.
But not on Realistic.![AAR
Second TE then with 2 tankers and several flights.
The behavior of the tankers is strange even on Simplified.
Unfortunately I can’t upload the two test TE’s here because I don’t have the authorization. If these are needed, please provide instructions on how and where I can upload them.
Log files are empty and therefore I have no way of identifying any errors.I hope that I have made it clear what our problem is and that there is a way to fix it.
Thank you for your attention and thank you for your work.
Best regards

@Hunter-0 Very strange. Our wing uses realistic and we don’t have that issue. I would imagine simplified might well be buggy like any easy mode can be.

Our Wing performs AAR on nearly every flight with no issues, always full realistic on everything. Can you describe the exact procedures you are doing including all tanker commands (the “Y” menu) that you are giving? The fact that AI wingman can refuel would seem to indicate there is something the human pilot is doing incorrectly. For us, the procedure is something like…
- Once within 10nm flight lead contacts tanker using Y-1 command
- Flight joins on tanker left wing, opens refueling doors, then lead moves to precontact
- Lead gets “cleared to pre-contact” call and moves to contact position - once there takes fuel
- Once at desired fuel level, pilot disconnects (or is auto disconnected if full) and immediately clears the tanker (Y-3).
Can you also confirm the version of BMS you are running. I ask only because you mentioned 4.32 which was quite some time ago and we have been doing AAR successfully on every release.

Hi,
what do you mean by no more supported?
It still makes a quite a difference in fuel flow (~7700 lbs/min vs ~1900 lbs/min) when I try it in the game. I also have to report “Back in Pr-Contact Position” on realistic before he clears me in, which I don’t need to do in simplifed. Our Wing performs AAR on nearly every flight with no issues, always full realistic on everything. We use the same procedure. And we are flying on 4.37 U3 Build:1358. The problem, I mostly have is that the Tanker does clear us into pre contact but then doesn’t clear us into contact position.
In our flight two weeks ago my lead had to ‘dance’ about a minute behind the boom while the tanker just gave strange ‘forward’ and ‘back’ calls until he finally cleared him in.Tomahawk

Any other options than realistic are not supported anymore , meaning there are bugs in those modes and those bugs will not be fixed as those options are abandoned

Too bad. Not having any issues with realistic as such though - just the “time-saving” effect is well-received if you want to fly after work and every minute of your evening shared between the simulator/ wife/ kids counts like hell.
I do mean it more serious than you can imagine.

@Stingray Perhaps this option can help with the time saving, if you fly with AI in your flights:
g_fAIRefuelSpeed
This option allows speeding up AI refuelling by multiplying the AAR time by the set variable. Default = 1 normal speed.
