SA Bar

I am a gret fan of the SA bar (shift 3 )
but not exactly sure why the speed readout gets a red box?
is it a dangerous airspeed? -
Page 99 in the user manual. Maybe you have a picture of the red bar you are talking about. The only red thing I see is the AoA on the left side meaning negative AoA.

@megadeath the flashing red box is a bit much, I tend to agree… especially if you’re landing. will look into making that a little less alarming

That’s pretty ironic given that I had it less flashy initially and internal testing feedback was make this unmistakably more insistent.
This minihud is a child of the original SA bar…the purpose of it then was to give you some help keeping track of jet orientation when doing things like dogfighting…some instrument cues when you are padlocked in view well away from front-and-center.
I don’t know what you are doing if this display is up during landing, but that’s not what it’s intended for, fwiw.
As a matter of documentation, the flashing only starts when you are approaching stall speeds. In a dogfight, that’s important to know…when landing it’s probably routinely expected
The redness, as opposed to greenness, of the box outline indicates how far you are from corner speed for the jet. The F-16 has more of a corner speed range so the box is consistently green if you stay in that range (which means you normally see it green since that speed range covers typical cruise speeds used in many mission profiles). The more red it is, the further you are getting from the ideal corner speed range (…which in a dogfight might mean slow down if you are high speed or speed up if you are slow in order to improve cornering performance).

@Boxer the VVI is nice when practicing landing, but not something I use on a regular basis
the throttle position has been helpful too, I built a ThrottleOverlay app back before the new minihud existed

Perhaps one solution could be that the red blinking frame is deactivated if gear is down and com1 in ch 3 or 4 or alternate landing ch ?
Or it start blinking the if speed less than 155 when gear down and com1 in 3 or 4 or alternate? -

Or it start blinking the if speed less than 155 when gear down and com1 in 3 or 4 or alternate?I kinda like that idea – stall speed for landing configuration as a threshold. As you say, gear down would be a good predicate for that…and short of something rather unconventional, wouldn’t come up while dogfighting and using padlock/off-axis views.
