Re: How do I transfer my keyboard maps to new computer?
Hello @Juggernaut I see that you recently posted a question regarding how to transfer key mapping etc to a new computer. I’m in the same position myself and I’m interested to see how you managed.
Would you mind please letting me know what you did, did it work and any other tips or warning you gained from your experience.
Thanks,
Bayonet.

@Bayonet basically, backup everything in your …/User/Config subfolder
the only file that might be troublesome, if new computer has different GPU or monitor – is the D3D11.dsp file.
you can safely just delete that, and BMS will recreate it as appropriate for your new PC graphics/monitor config

if it’s just keymappings, then shouldn’t it just be the .key file? Or what file does the AL actually access/write to? -

Myself, I backup the BMS - Auto.key file and all the Setup.v100.* files as @Icer mentioned. I run the launcher before restoring the backups to let it create them using a new ID value in the file name (changes on a different computer or new OS). I then rename the backup files to match the new IDs, and finally overwrite the new files with the backups. Works like a charm.

Yes that’s right – great point. On your new PC the DirectInput IDs will be different, for all your joystick/hotas devices, so to port over your Alt Launcher bindings you’ll have to shuffle some filenames around.
I have some plans to make this more robust and easier… but for now you’ll have to
1- startup Alt Launcher at least once on the new PC … configure at least 1 button or axis on each device so that it will write the
Setup.v100. blah blah .. {new ID}.xml
files2- match each of those new XML files to your old XML files
3- copy or rename the
Setup.v100. blah blah .. {old ID}.xml
files to beSetup.v100. blah blah .. {new ID}.xml
4- then launch AL again to review and make sure everything looks in proper order

Thank you all for your help, I’ll study your recommendations and jump in with fingers crossed
Before I do, I have to install my Virpil HOTAS and then all the other bits and pieces a BMS pilot uses.
Thanks again,
Bayonet.
