Airport Parking Charts recommendations for next work-up

@Micro_440th and the Docs Team.
If this is discussed internally or the Docs Team has a different direction please disregard.
A recommendation for the APC:
- Comms-Nav manual add information and for clarification that APC_RWY24R is for take-off spot AND when landing that the reciprocal runway chart is used for parking APC_RWY06L (including L or R). (At least I think that’s how it works - Somebody familiar with code or in the know would be better to clarify). (thanks @jayb for mentioning this)
– Was a bit confused about this for a bit.
*APC_RWY Charts seem to be designed to print in Landscape -sort of – as communication Freq’s are in portrait and Titles are in portrait. — Make all portrait as most simmers I would think would use in portrait (physical kneeboards, EFB (electronic flight bags), sim pilot kneeboards, WDP, helios, etc. I think this layout is more congruent with these applications of the charts - Orientation (North designation) - has been discussed before, just keeping this fresh.
Well that’s all I can think of for now.
Food for thought for the next go around.
Let me know if I can help in anyway.Bugler

@Bugler
+1 Sometimes it’s a bit unclear how to match the APC chart to the runway you landed at.It would be great if the rotation of the APC charts matched the rotation of the general airport chart (xxxx_airport.png), however that has been rotated. Eg. Osan_Airport.png vs Osan_APC_RWY09L.png.
At the very least a North pointer on all charts could be useful. I understand that not all charts need to be aligned North with the current Portrait format and its height/width restrictions. That could lead to very zoomed out information if North alignment was enforced.

Chaps,
These issues have been recognised and are being redressed - probable not in the 4.37 releases as there is much work to do - there are a lot of charts!
The current chart give too much information that is not required and are labelled incorrectly of the runway orientation, I also agree that orientation is an issue when trying to locate your parking slot as assigned by ATC in a moving jet !!!
I have made a start on the 4.37 charts, just to establish a format for charts going forward in conjunction with Micro, an example are shown below - any constructive comments would be welcome.
Using a simple graphics prog in my case W10 Microsoft “paint” - it doesn’t get any simpler than that !!! - you can create the charts you need for the air bases that you regularly use.
Hope this helps

Hi @Bugler ,
as Ironman mentioned already, we discussed a lot about the best layout for APC charts.
For now, we will stick to the state what we have because no high priority right now and lots of work to do for 4.38.We may will add magnetic north indication and Ironmans idea maybe for U4.
In the future we hopefully have a solution where we have a more modern platform and database (similar to what we have started with the interactive maps), leaving the area of static charts. If you know Navigraph: something like that.

Hi gents!
No need to reinvent the wheel. If you want to lake it right, just mimic and reproduce what is already existng IRL. All have been already deeeeeply thought to optimize ergonomy to ensure the best understanding.

Hi Dee Jay,
Perhaps you could post and example?

All the real DoD South Korean charts has been posted long time ago on the (Old) Dev forum. Search for a thread commencing with “4.38 - Airports / Airbases / Airfields” … link is posted on Post#1 -

@Ironman53rd Those look great - the parking charts show a bit of runway so you can better correlate against the airport layout.
Quick question regarding the naming of the parking areas - eg. 33L seems to show the parking area for 15R. Just wondering if that change is intentional. In the current charts the parking area are named as to where you park related to taking off. Like the slots closest to taking off from 15R are in APC 15R etc.
Current chart for 15R:

Sorry, nope. Because is it against copyright policy.
Go back on the old Dev forum, search for " 4.36 - Airports / Airbases / Airfields" … Or search in Developement/Database section, you will find the thread. -
Remember that IRL, apron/stands IDs does not depends to the actual active runway.
-
@Dee-Jay Yeah so you mean you could be parked anywhere on the airbase, regardless of where you will take off from ?
As I understand it, that wouldn’t work in BMS right now since the parking spot numbers are not unique. Across the airbase there can be several parking spots numbered “3” and you need to know what parking area you are in to know which no. 3 you are parked at. The way that is solved is by spawning in the parking area which corresponds to currently active runway. Within a parking area there is no ambiguity to the numbering of parking spots.
As I said, that is my understanding right now (could be wrong)

Current chart for 15R:
if you look at the Parking chart as a whole you will see the AB chart as an inset in the bottom left hand corner to give you better AB SA.

As you know I am a Dev tester so perhaps it would not be against “copyright policy” to PM me with the actual link because non of the ones you have posted lead me to anything useful, please.

Jayb
The annotation for the parking chart/RWY’s in the docs for 4.37 are incorrect.
That’s the reason for me publishing the corrected charts.
as a quick rule of thumb reverse the RWY’s and you will get to the correct parking chart.

@Ironman53rd Got it - that will be easier to work with when landing. Great idea with the AB chart inset, it really improves SA (as you say)
Cheers,

Sorry mate, I don’t have acess to the Forum from my position nor to the link (no more on my cellphone). I am telling you the path by memory. It is not difficult to search it … it should be one of the first thread or not far from the beginning of the list.

I will send you those via dev pm.
To clear the situation, in RL we dont have those APC charts in the current FAA format. @Dee-Jay So we are already a bit individual here which to me is the right step. The general principle works and people can use it/find it useful. Now we need to finetune.
No need to change the concept or make things complicated. -

Those parking spots are for 15R (see green taxi route). So no mistake here for my understanding of your question.

As per Ironman’s new charts, that would be called 33L. So that change was my question.
