Viper TQS selectable in Setting -> Controllers
-
The setup page is not letting me select both Thrustmaster (Viper) Joystick & Viper TQS. I can tell the program "see the throttle quadrant attached, but there is not option to exclusively select it in combo with joystick. Thank in advance.
** BTW, I am back with BMS/4.0 after a 15 year layoff. Started with Falcon from from day in the late 80’s.

@Savage use the new launcher to configure your hotas bindings
-
@Savage Yep. Only use the in game setup for graphics and sound now. No need to look in the controller section anymore.

Good advice Quasi! I haven’t seen the tip stated so directly. Something similar should be added to the BMS User Manual, ver. BMS 4.37.3, section 3.4.

Some users still prefer the controller page and dont use the new launcher.
As long as we have this page in BMS, we cannot give any direction who uses what or what approach is better. -
Totally agree. But speaking for myself, I was uncertain/confused whether some elements of the in-game Controllers page still apply (i.e., center joystick, tweak, throttle cutoff, and tweak AB detent) even when the BMS launcher is used.

@greatcouloir just to answer the question – yes you can tweak centering and ab/idle detents, on the Setup/Controllers screen, but they will get overwritten by the launcher next time you start … just as if you changed any key or button bindings, in-game.

@greatcouloir @Savage
To clarify what @airtex2019 said, basically, there are now three ways to start BMS:- directly by linking a shortcut to the .exe file
- AL allowing it to overwrite any settings
- AL but not allowing it to overwrite any settings
If you set up your controls in the in-game 2D Setup UI, then you will want an AL-no-overwrite start. If you set up your controls via the AL, then you will want to start via AL allowing it to overwrite or a direct-.exe shortcut.
As someone who used to configure controls directly to my .key file, I must say that I’m now an AL convert as it’s so much easier to map my controls — and this is coming from someone who is currently setting up a replica cockpit.
-
For what its worth I second @Atlas . I build my own joystick/switchboxes and the AL is a godsend. It just takes out all the fudge factor and just works.

@airtex2019 Thanks!
This worked, but in the launcher, it doesn’t look like key assignment are defaulting to the TQS. Do you have to manually assign, or am I missing an option. Also, where is all the downloadable content for the BMS live. Specifically, throttle/stick import files?
Thanks again!

@Savage it’s pretty new product – there’s no default template for it yet.
if you make one you like, post it here – boom, downloadable content!
seriously, it is part of the vision to have a “network effect” of people publishing their hotas key files… and some UI to search and browse them
maybe first baby step toward that will be, allowing to import-from-url … so folks can post XML template to google drive or or github-gist or whatever, and share a link
