Looking for Campaign guidance for TS.
-
Greetings,
I’m trying my first campaign to learn get a feel for how Falcon BMS works. I’m at a point where I’m not sure what direction my strategy should go.
I’ve used the strategy outlined in the first post by Dirxxxed.
So the first day I’ve tried to do as many BARCAPS and DEAD’s to take out air defenses. So as I move on I’m seeing less and less frag orders coming up for the 14th FS. I tried changing the Priority types and target types, but when I advance the clock the frag orders empties and nothing comes up.
At this point I don’t know how to create my own frags. I’m a bit confused since my PAK’s are pretty much where the action/FLOT is and there are no strike frags or OCA frags. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong here.
I’d appreciate if anybody can provide some insight as far as why my particular strategy isn’t working and what you think would help to move the campaign forward.
Thanks for any assistance.

Hey @Puckertoe,
I would suggest you having a read at the BMS-User-Manual.pdf which can be located at \Falcon BMS 4.37\Docs\00 BMS Manuals folder.
9.4.3 Creating a Package chapter might be of interest to you here to create your own frags.

Old Falcon problem, that some squadrons get less missions (but it is much better nowadays).
-
How many planes has your squadron left? Maybe losses are too high to frag more missions. See in squadrons window.
-
Falcon never liked extreme slider settings as in your screenshot (deleted topic). Tick on the “Set by HQ” there for some sim hours and watch mission generation (it has no immediate effect). Then, adjust the sliders rather carefully in some direction.
Remember: This does NOT just effect your squadron but ALL forces. -
You may change to a squadron that has more missions
-
You may take control over your squadron. Go to “Squadron”, tick off the “Set by HQ” there (no more missions are automatically generated for your squadron).
Right click on a desired target on map and click “Add Package”. Details are written in the manuals but it works rather intuitively. Just try by doing

Please clarify the “problem” and what you expect?
The selection of squadron is based on many factors and ATM will pick the best squadron for the job (role, distance, weapons, aircraft capabilities, etc).
Why do you expect a homogeneous allocation of aircraft among all squadrons of theater? -
@Puckertoe
First, “never” used sliders full to the right.
And watch this video:FYI, some information about the flags changed since ALR was implemented. To learn more about ALR, please read the manuals.

@tiag
Oh, no problem in form of a bug like the old BARCAP issue or no mission fragging like in old Falcon 4.0 days.As you say, this is a complex subject. I just wanted to give a simple answer for someone new, seeing no mission generation and gave hints how to avoid it (no extreme slider movement i.e.).
In the upper example, it could be different causes:
High priority for SEAD but almost no threat circles, other better specialized squadrons get those missions, it would be good to look into the entire ATO.
A good solution always has been, to give over to HQ for some time and then plan manually more careful. That should have solved the problem.But not always. In @SpbGoro 's Desert Storm we found a F-16 squadron that rarely got fragged, one J-7 squad that never got fragged and the same with all the A-10 because the values in the database were a bit off and the engine considered it a much too high threat invironment to send them out. Oh, and they didn’t fly by night (which is correct). But you may forget that sitting before the map not looking at local time.
For Desert Storm “inbalancies”, see here: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/23450/campaign-report-desert-storm-mideast-128-for-bms-4-36-u2/14

@Atze-0
It is so hard to tell if it is the ATM or something else behind a squadron not being fragged without knowing theater, campaign, sliders, etc. and having the correct tools.
Will give you a couple of examples. During U3 dev we found out that some squadrons were not being used by the ATM at all in some theaters/campaigns. Problem in ATM? No. Some of the cases was simply data missing, like airplane data did not have the runway length, or the airbase where the squadron was stationed had too short runways, and the ATM would check this squadron BUT not choose it because the planes would not take-off.
Also, the ATM we have plans missions with some minutes to some hours in advance. If a squadron is stationed too far from the FLOT, the ATM would always pick other squadrons that would fulfill the time requirements. Problem in ATM? No, parameters in F4Config were not set correctly for this theater.
The list is very long. We have tools to monitor all data of the campaign in real time outside BMS and many bugs or non-optimal settings were optimized by the team. There are still a couple but they are not game breakers, which we will fix. That is why I ask, if you have a repro case, please share, we can take a look, if its code, we fix, and if its data we also fix. -
@tiag
No no no, how should I explain with not native english. There is absolutely no technical problem, so no repro case.
But a newbie could wonder, why a squadron under certain circumstances gets no missions.I think I shouldn’t have used the word “problem”, but rather “specialty”?

Hi tiag, why should i not use sliders full to the right?
