No comms with AWACS and tanker
-
Provide cam file please
I’ll set a reminder to do just that when I’m home. If there are any more details you require, give me a shout, although I can’t precisely recall when it happend and on what day. The current AWACS in my .cam is likely not the one that wouldn’t respond.

Sorry I mean that I when I experienced the issue it was ~12 campaign hours ago, so not the same fragged AWACS as the one that’s flying now.
-
I have experienced the same issue flying 2 different campaigns in KTO. I do not make ANY changes to ANY flights (other than my weapons loadout) everything is set by the AI. It’s happened at least 4 or 5 times since I started playing BMS in the last 2 weeks. I have a fresh 4.34 install, zero mods, and when my AI wingman got shot down today during a BARCAP, AWACS suddenly stopped responding to my calls. I didn’t take any damage and hence my other comms with RTB and tower/ground were fine. Again, I don’t change any comms preflight, but I do write down the UHF/VHF frequencies prior to launch to ensure I’m prepared.

I am having the same problem on TE Training Mission 4D, Air to Air Refueling. The mission starts airborn with Com 1 set on preset 6. I set com frequency to transmit on 358.125 and press “q” for “vectors to tanker”. I get text on screen and hear my radio transmission with no response from AWACS (Eyeball 11). I change UHF frequency to 340.50 and press “y” to transmit to tanker boom operator to request refueling. I get no transmit text or response.
-
@mjones - for starters, save yourself some typing and use the preset freqs from the briefing. AWACS is on preset 6 so you can ask for vectors right off. Then, depending on which tanker you are looking for (the freq you gave doesn’t match any but is close to Cajun4…so I’m assuming you are flying the hornet) preset 13 should already be set for you.
-
@Zeus Tried the preset 6, no response. All frequencies identified in com ladder. Flying F-16 TRAINING mission (5th down on mission list). Preset 13 not working for tanker either. Did click dance to load data cartridge before mission.
-
@mjones okay, so if you are flying in Goblin3, then your briefing should look like this:
If you’re not getting any response on either of the presets then something else is wrong. The jet should load into 3D with everything already set-up and the tanker 8nm in front of you. So if you simply switch to UHF 13 and do a Y1, the tanker should respond (if you have mapped axis to volume controls then you need to make sure those are on, etc.).
Do you get replies in any other TEs? This works for everyone else so it’s something in your set-up.
-
@Zeus Everything works fine in the other training missions. I thought it was a problem with the data cartridge loading properly when the mission starts, IDK?
-
Just flew training mission 2 - navigation to check comms, everything works fine.
-
Just flew AAR mission 4D again, preset 13 working good comms with tanker, preset 6, no AWACS transmit or response, weird.
-
@mjones
Something on your end for sure. Just tried AAR TE with Goblin 3 flight, can communicate with AWACS (UHF 6) and Tanker (UHF 13) just fine -
@Atlas Hmmmm, just flew traing mission 6, no problem with any comms. I can’t figure out what is causing the inconsistent comms in AAR 4D. Thanks!

@mjones
Do you have anything mapped to a physical switch or dial? Having that set at a wrong position can affect the state of the aircraft, especially if that physical control is mapped as a DX input. -
@Atlas No, so far all comm channels have loaded properly from the data cartridge on all TE training missions except for the AWACS problem on UHF preset 6, and sometimes with the tanker on preset 13. When I call for Eyeball on preset 6, sometimes I can hear and see the text and transmission with no response from AWACS.
-
I forgot to mention that when I hit the “q” key to transmit to AWACS, the text is highlighted showing I am on the correct frequency.
-
@mjones Could you say which flight number you join? And once airborne, if you switch to preset 6 (it’s probably already on 6) and press F1 could you check the frequency on the DED and share what you see ? Then do the same for preset 13
It’s probably something simple. Although that mission is the first training mission with several flights to choose from and the click dance is vital here since there are three tanker tracks.

Flew the same AAR 4D mission yesterday, no preset comms on 6 or 13 worked. If I manually entered the tanker freq. 348.625 and AWACS 321.225, they worked.
