FoxVox Free voice control software for BMS
-
@jojojung Were you having this issue with earlier versions or just the latest? As an experiment, does it change anything if you remap the PTT buttons to your joystick directly instead of using the variable binding?
-
@foxster cant tell because its a hole new PC. With the old PC Foxvox runns without problems, but it was an older version.
changing the ppt buttons to another joystick doesnt fix the problem. I tried with TM Worthog and TM Cougar. Same problem.
I can show you on discord if you are interessted. It seems like the programm has an overdose of workload because the slow response and the full circle loading mouse symbol is there all the time. But only in foxvox. Sliding with the mouse to the second monitor (f.e. here in the browser) there are no problems at all. CPU workload is 3%, RAM 15%, SSD 0%.When I let it load for 10 minutes sometimes it get out of the loading circle. When I made a change in the libary f.e. the new PTT buttons and try to save I cant click the buttons cancel, yes or no and the program shows this massage.
-
@jojojung could you provide the contents from the error log that it created? That will help me know what’s going on. You can drop it off in discord if you wish.
-
@foxster
Thanks very much that you care about this.
I have many logs in the folder named above.
This log file is only created when trying to save changes but there are log fiels from freezes and crashs too that have different texts. But I cant understand these log files. I will send it to you of course!
Thanks again. Without your foxvox BMS looses much much fun! -
@jojojung Little-known Windows tip: when an error message like this pops up, if you press [ctrl+C] before clicking OK, it will put the error text and filename onto your clipboard.
That makes it easier to navigate to a long complex filename like that…

@foxster ps foxster if you learn something here, please let me know
there have been reports of similar problems with Alt Launcher – also a WPF app, and also from AMD systems
I relaxed some of the timer-polling frequencies, last version, and that seems to have helped, but I’m not confident I solved it for everyone everywhere
I have no root-cause explanation for what is happening… I’m keen to learn something
-
@airtex2019 Will do. Problem doesn’t seem superficial, but not sure yet. I’ll fill you in on what I find.

I have a strange problem with FoxVox and I just can’t understand its origin.
I bought new PC couple of months ago. It has AMD cpu and gpu.
I have tried old and new version of FoxVox and problem persist although on the old PC old version works perfectly.Problem:
When I have FV started, in 3D in Falcon BMS when I use FOV (zoom) I get flickering of FOV, and instanly when I close FV it’s all perfect. Same when I open FV again.-you can see here how it looks flickering:
(if doesn’t jump to wanted timestapm, its on 2:48)
Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor 4.50 GH
gpu AMD XR 7800 XT

Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog A-10C stick
and A-10C throttle -
@k3yb04rd Saw the visual and investigating.
-
@k3yb04rd is the zoom an analog axis or TrackIR?
-
-
@k3yb04rd an easy but interesting test – check your motherboard manual, to see which USB ports are driven by the CPU and which are driven by the PCH/chipset.
try plugging the warthog into each, to see if one works better than the other.
(note, this may scramble the ID of your Warthog as detected by Alt Launcher … so it may require duplicating your
Setup.v100.Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {.....}.xml
file accordingly) -
@airtex2019 I will try that when I get time to do the whole mapping thing.
But I want to know why would that be issue with FoxVox in the first place? I don’t have problem with Hotas Throttle zoom unles FV is started. Instantly I close FV the zoom fix itself, without exiting BMS 3D.Edit: I’ve tried to switch position of Joystick and Throttle tested and switched again and didn’t fixed anything. (only on wrong order I lost all keybindings but when switched on the right order of stick and throttle keys came back)

@pes_ter Thanks for the heads-up! I think I’ve got a solution pending, or at least in progress. I’ll post information about an update very soon.
-
@foxster thank you for your work!
-
@k3yb04rd A new update has been posted. Give it a try and see if it fixes your issue. Anyone else who has experienced performance issues should definitely check out this new version…actually everyone using it should update for better performance.
Special thanks to @jojojung for his help in testing and providing feedback, and also @Wheelchock as always for ensuring everything else stayed working. As always, let me know if you find any bugs or issues and I’ll do my best to fix it.
-
@foxster WinDefender flags the MSI; surely a false positive so just a headsup.
-
@dumba Thanks for letting me know. I’ve recompiled and updated the exe with new signatures so hopefully it gets through. I’ve seen that happen once before where Windows just decides it’s bad…not really sure what trips it, but hopefully it’s fixed now.
Edit: Well apparently that didn’t fix it. Windows just doesn’t like my update apparently. I’ve provided the msi inside a zip file as a workaround for anyone being blocked until the problem can be resolved.

I’ve posted a video showing basic startup of FoxVox for new users to get up and running with voice control:
