Voice Attack, game audio, and Quest 3
-
I could be wrong but my initial flights with the Quest 3 only had audio coming out of the headset. Not sure how or why or even if I’m misremembering this. Later on, I noticed audio coming out from both the Quest 3 and my PC speakers. Can anyone confirm that their audio moves exclusively to the headset when the Quest 3 is on?
Has anyone got the Quest 3 to work with Voice Attack? For some reason, VA doesn’t seem to hear anything from my Q3 mic and I have to use my Arctis headset… at which point I again have a dual audio issue – either Q3+PC or Q3+Arctis.
Thanks!

Seems like when flying via Virtual Desktop, the audio moves from my PC to headset as I stated earlier.
However, I’m trying out InfuseVR and when using that, the audio comes out from both PC and headset.Either way, I can’t get Voice Attack to hear anything via the Quest 3. Any help?

@Atlas ,
As I mentioned in the other thread, the microphone on the Quest 3 is terrible. I could not get it to work with VoiceAttack, despite turning up all input volumes in windows and Quest 3.You may need to look at an alternate microphone method. I settled on the Soundcore VR P10 earbuds. They work great with the Quest 3 and VoiceAttack. One reason I chose them is that they have an included dongle that you can plug in to the Quest 3 port if you are using the headset alone, and then plug the BoboVR input into it, which will pass power to the headset. Similarly, you can plug the dongle into a USB C port or a USB A port on the PC (using a USB C to A converter). Or you can connect to either using Bluetooth. Very versatile.

When you said that, I just thought the microphone was of poor quality, ie cannot pick up audio clearly or audio is muffled/distorted, etc. This is a totally inop mic.Unfortunately, the VR P10 doesn’t seem to be available here in the UK and while it is available from Ali Express, I’m a bit wary of buying a knock-off for something like this.

So I finally figure out how to make the mic on my Quest 3 work… note that I had no issues with the Reverb G2 mic or the Pimax Crystal mic. Trying out some of my common commands in Voice Attack using Semler’s profile, I am getting 95% or more misses on the voice commands.
Do I need to re-train voice recognition using the Quest 3 mic? Or is it just a shitty mic to begin with and might as well use my headset (Arctis Pro) mic?

@Atlas - The Quest 3’s speakers are pretty good, but they don’t compare to a quality pair of enclosed ear headphones. So I use a combination of the Quest 3 for vision with the EKSA e900 Pro headphones with microphone for the best video/audio combined experience.
Just make sure to start VoiceAttack AFTER you start SteamVR so that the VoiceAttack settings steals the VR audio/mic settings.

@SoBad
I got a wireless Arctis Pro headset which I’ve always used before as I velcro’d a TIR LED emitter to it when I was still using TIR. I’ve stopped using it for VR since the G2 and Crystal had audio and mic, which I was hoping to continue with the Q3.Just wondering if there is any fix for the Q3 mic or if it’s of such low quality that I shouldn’t even bother?

Not only do you need to retrain, but you need to do so in a new Speech Profile - replied already to your similar post in my AVCS thread, but will quote it here for anyone else who may run across this forum post because it is the proper solution when switching to a different microphone while using WSR:
@SemlerPDX said in AVCS4 Immersive Voice Control Radios for VoiceAttack:
I am uncertain about the quality of the Quest 3 mic, however, voice recognition speech training is specific to both the voice of the person who trained it, and the microphone they used to train it (hopefully at least three times, completely through the entire session).
If either of these things change significantly, you need to create a new speech profile, and then go through the training session again (at least three times). Since you are using a new microphone, you’d want to create a new speech profile. If you flip-flop between this microphone and another when using VoiceAttack for different games (perhaps some not in VR), then you’d need to switch between your original speech profile and this new speech profiles created for the Quest 3 VR Mic.
As you can see in the linked post below, we can delete existing speech profiles, and create new ones, or set which speech profile is active - follow these steps to create your new speech profile for Quest 3 and train it up:
