Thrustmaster Viper TQS... what to do with the additional buttons?
-
Right. Got the Thrustmaster Viper TQS. It’s got a paddle switch under the grip which I will use as a DX-shift. The scroll/depress thumb button I have plans for. But…
There are two additional buttons. Comms switch and the antenna elevation can be depressed.
What does the panel think would be a good use for those?

@scubapics
At least one button could be assigned to the CZ to avoid having to get it from an MFD. And if you use TARGET, then anything is possible. For example, a macro to jettison part of the armament, another to make a markpoint on a target on the ground and send it immediately to the rest of the flight… anything is possible if you’re willing to give up realism at all costs. -
@Rouge1512 Good ideas! CZ is good as well as mark point. Many thanks!

I use the Range-Depress as zoom toggle. The little rotary/depress knob I use as NVG toggle (rotary left) and VR center (rotary press).

@scubapics
I have set up the Antenna Elevation Depress knob as a toggle to change the curves on my joystick for the pitch axis (JOY Y): First press sets the pitch curves to a scaled version that provides very precise movement around the center position for AAR/Landing. The second press sets “Normal” flight pitch curves.Late edit: Today 4/27/24), I finished coding my TARGET script (a kludge of Scubapics ViperTQS LED script and my own adjustments for my setup) to turn ON the Right MFD LED #1 (the top left light on the right MFD) when the “precision” AAR/Landing curve/scale is active, and OFF when the “Normal Flight” curve/scale is active. Works off the same AntElev pushbutton.
I set up the small thumb button as “wheelbrakes” when pulled after (my rudder doesn’t have toebrakes). When pushed forward, it is a “Look Closer” (L key) toggle. I haven’t programmed the depress function of that thumb button yet, but I am sure I will find a good use for it in the future.
I set up the Mission Box slider as a digital axis FOV changer (though I don’t typically use it when in VR).
I set up the HOBO switch to toggle lights off.
As mentioned above, almost anything is possible using TARGET.

I use one of the buttons for external lights master for quickly switching off when fencing I

I use those buttons for much more mundane tasks: I also use the paddle as shift, the comm press switch unshifted to toggle the visor and shifted to toggle the NVGs. The antenna elevation knob press, I use it to toggle the pilot model.

What do you guys use the Mode: ILS/TCN, TCN, NAV, And ILS/NAV on the Viper TQS for? I had originally mapped it for those tasks, but somehow it screwed up my nav points on the HSD, so I unmapped the Mode dial for now, but I am looking to use it for something. The guy who made the great video on how to map everything (Aviator Plus) uses the Mode dial for lights, so I might go with that, but I am looking for suggestions.

I use the Jammer toggle switch as the AR Refuel open/close. I put a piece of tape on it so I can locate it without even looking. makes setting up for AAR easier for me. The small switch on the throttle arm I use as a zoon in/quick look. NVG is controlled by the pushbutton near the DogFight switch.
