Thanks for the feedback guys, must say, it’s fun to be back working on this.
To answer the question, this is the ancient F-14 3D model courtesy of…oh wait, can’t check the FF forums for that reference Good to hear that some people suspect it to be a new model, guess that means I’m doing something right :mrgreen: The fact that the AIM-54 and the drop tanks are working makes it look like an integrated skin so I guess that’s where some of the brandnew look issues arise from…
At this point a thanks to Zaggy for putting together the original F-14 PSDs and to Onesimus for creating the base A/B/D PSDs on which all this work is based.
More updates coming tonight.
@Mike…pm inbound!

Also for anyone who cares why these cats partially look so different from the standard ones…the first VF-31 bird has the original light/dark gull gray Lo-Viz colors that the Navy used on all birds between around 2000 until 2006 (as the Cat was retired then). The VF-102 and VF-31 '97 versions are light gull gray all around as that was used in the mid to late 90s. The final cruise ‘pencil’ of VF-31 AJ-101 has an altered somewhat bluish light gull gray all around, you’ll notice on some pics that this color was used, mostly on repainted CAG birds near the end of the Tomcat era. The VF-111 Sundowners bird uses a somewhat beige gray color all around which was used throughout the 80s, I have a corresponding design for the VF-51 which served alongside the one eleven on the Kitty Hawk in 1985.

Hi my friend “110 stingray_SIX_TWO”.
Congratulations for your great work with skins for Tomcat! Thank you very much for your hard efforts.
Now if you want, make also this version of skin for VF-103 Jolly Rogers:
It is my loved skin for my best loved squadron of this legend, THE F-14 Tomcat. And i’m sure that the specific skin be loved by a lot of others ;).
Thank you anyway mate and keep your great work high, as you already do!

neystratiou, it’s done
What you posted is Bureau Number 160393 AJ200 in 1980 or later. I have this BuNo done for 1979, the first year for the Jolly Rogers (with the F-14 squadrons). Below you can see BuNo 160385 AJ201 in 1980. The CVW8 airwing insignia on the lower right section of the tail and the Modex number below the tailtip is characteristic of this timeframe, also the Navy had abandoned the classic beige top/white underfuselage color in favor of a gray all around scheme which would continue into the late 80s.
I’ll post up two '79 birds later today with the classic color scheme and a new bird that I’ve never put together before…VF-1.
