Random question for those who know…
I read somewhere that the APG-65 had its scanner reduced 2 inches in diameter for installation on the AV-8B+. Can someone verify this?
If true, the diameter should be 26in rather than 28.
EDIT
This is probably late and should be ignored… but, is the pilot either too small or sitting too low in the cockpit? Most of the Harrier shots I’ve seen have the pilot sitting with a bit of headroom in that massive bubble, but none with as much space as I’ve seen in the shots here. To illustrate:
-
This model, the entire thread, the skin and the incredible speed in which this came up and was completely finished is remarkable. It’s really a beauty and looks great in-sim.
Cheers!!!

If they authorize the development of a tanker module for the MV-22, then you might get a near self-sufficient Marine Carrier Air Wing! Apparently, there were also studies made for an AEW Osprey, which would indeed give a very good degree of self-sufficiency.
…Not saying I necessarily want to see that in real life, but it would make Harrier campaigns in BMS more interesting.

Great read gents, thank you.
Who made the F4BMS AV-8B cockpit and/or textures? -

That pit looks amazing. Im really amazed how fast all this came together. Can’t wait to fly!

I’ve had great help from Nanard & Wdavey about model, and Bonedust for textures… the bad parts are mine !

Looks and sounds amazing! Great work, really looking forward to a release (:!

It seems that there is a multiple cockpit projects, I’m wondering why you waste your time in developing cockpits while they can not have own avionics and they all are based on F-16. I see no point in flying a plane when the service/behaviour is completely different than in reality. Moreover the study and learning AC is the most interesting thing in sim’s, until avionics will not be a separate each new AC cockpit will be the old F-16 with different layout of switches. Its better to put all effort in developing AC on more modular and sophisticated simulator platforms like DCS…
-
I strongly disagree.
-
I put all my free time and all my effort to build different 3dpit’s… the option “Fly only F16” (BMS configuration) it’s the different way !
(I’m waiting personalized avionics for others AC’s)

Keep up the good work, a TON of people enjoys flying different planes

and this is absolutely a great post from Hayab and his beautiful AC model !!!

If you guys are satisfied with A-10 and want more such planes then oki doki, but the truth is that you spend time on developing useless things instead improving existing one which are needed. Its been long time since any major release and the whole project is progressing in snail’s speed, the last few updates brings completely nothing. Keep up the good work

My advice is not to discourage those dedicating their time to development; BMS team or community devs.
You’ve got 22 posts here; if your next post insults those who’ve contributed to the community it will be your last post.

If I were you I tried to use much more carefully the “useless” word…
-
These things are hardly useless. Hopefully avionics will come about at some point, but models and art assets represent “infrastructure” for the sim’s database. Those assets, that infrastructure, which is created now, can ideally be used at a later point in time with the upgrades and changes in specialty avionics. When that comes is anyone’s guess, but it is better to do something that can be done now than wait for changes in the codebase that may take some time, the magnitude of which cannot be guessed.
