I’ve always been a fun of waporware!
But I’m @ home with some spare-time from exams, so maybe I will get this project to some point.I’ve lost a lot of files, but today I’ve manually controlled and reworked all the roads for the Taiwan island only for the objectives, recalculated L2 thr and mea and all troops are moving somewhere so far.

I will contact Stef and see what we will do with the Theater, I ll try to fix as much terrain I can, but I don’t think I will ever have enough time to completely finish it as it deserves, so maybe I will give someone the files…

All Formosa Island roads and rivers have been redone by hand, last pass is elevation/angle check for valleys.
Next steps will be hopefully terrain texturing and tiling. -

Anyway I’ve decided not to activate the water-shaders for the rivers (they are not water-type texture anymore) so they are only an eye candy

I’m pretty happy with the result, seamless, maybe “boring” for the eye, but is looking good imho…

Nice….you using 512x512?, I think 512x512 is a good size for BMS and performance, bigger for AB’s is fine, below 512 it gets a little too blurry, but then again that could be useful for certain tiles?.
512 atm, I used 1024 in other tests, but they do slow down older pcs (less gpu ram).
So I started working in 512 res, this gives a good impact on medium altitudes, but not the best visual on low level (<5000f)Next step will be to find a good area with farms and make a seamless tile out of it, I personally hate working on the farms, because is really hard to find good images with the right colours.

So I started working in 512 res, this gives a good impact on medium altitudes, but not the best visual on low level (<5000fIt is better to do it in 1024x1024. In the future, it will be standard in Falcon (I mean FLARE). I’m doing in 2048 and reduced to 1024. I wrote script for PS (batch converter), and can reduce the size of one click for 512, 256, 128 ……Easy

1024 @ 142 PPI is fine for non Photo Real.
DXT5 not needed really, DXT3 is OK for BMS.
Mind your MIPs, 6 are enough, IMHO, unless you are using Fading MipMaps.Even then I have seen FPS hits at full (12) MIPs and Fading in GUAM. Seems 9-11 is good for BMS and DX11.
Then again, we are using much bigger DDS texture images in GUAM i.e. 2048 for the “SCRUB” and 4096 for the Airbases. Some of them are weighing in @ 2800+ kb’s each!!!
But, even in the new 64 SEG MAP we are still way under the 4096 limit, so that helps her with the list and non repeating tiles a bit2 cts.

demer//OT Hi Demer, yesterday when I joined ts I realized that I have been a fool to not try to tell everybody that I would have been busy with real life for a lot of time, but I fell sorry with the wisdom of hindsight in particular with you since I was //attending your falcon editing school . I hope I can be forgiven!

EDIT: what the hell are the black dots on the thr? (don’t worry about the roads on water is due to water tileset in that area (fotoreal)) there is nothing there and tried to change textures and elev they are still there

I also had the same Idea personally, and in the Kashmir and Taiwan (lost version) I used 1024, that have a way more definition than 512 in low level, but it has a side effect (imho) that from high above the pixels will be merged anyway.

fly Google Earth first to have an idea of the real terrain. most default korea tiles are ok.
