Oh my friend, you are full of work…. Good lucky!!! LOL
Regards MetalheadBoth of these models are completed, just waiting on some skins, and I will DOF’s the models and release them. Then Dof and Switch the B model pit.

Putting the panels on has turned out ‘a tad’ harder than I anticipated - BIG KUDOS to all skinners who build skins from scratch and texmap the model!!! I can’t believe how time consuming it is…I just wanna go back to stencils and Bureau Numbers
The arguably most important element of the F-14 is the glovebox. For anyone who likes the nitty gritty about the process, the circled area in the photo below is an area of importance. As you can see the inside of the top part of the glovebox that runs along the front fuselage/canopy bulge is offset down a bit while the outside of the top part of the glove is offset up. NIZMO’s model does incorporate that as I tried to show in the 2nd pic. At this point I again must say the model is very, very good even in the downscaled version in terms of polys.
Long story short, the solution to this is the line below It’s the outline of the top part of the engine intake, straight on the outside, slightly angled, adapting the flow of the front fuselage on the inside.
Here are some of the rest of the lines. I’m using Onesimus’ original glovebox panels for measurement and reference. Needless to say, all lines have to be redrawn because scale, position and overall length of the new model are all different.
Another important part that is now correctly modelled is the area around the wings and the inflatable sealing bags. Below is a nice reference shot of that area.
Below is the current state. The four wing glove fences or external stiffeners are some of the more obvious anchor points for positioning, they’re not depicted below but I have them ‘drawn’ they pretty much connect the glove edge and the center section with the rest of the panels.
So after around 100 hrs on mapping and ‘panel lining’ I expect to be done in another 50 hrs when I’m lucky
Will send a WIP to Nizmo so I can get an LOD for refining the alignment. Also there are already around 20 areas of change/improvement to Onesimus original (awesome!:)) panels based on reference photos and the now possible added detail due to the new model.
Done for today, Baby.

What more can one say, besides considering your work truly impressive…
Counting the days till one can fly the Cat once again
Best regards, keep up with the outstanding work, gents!

Dear Nizmo , How much work still remained?!
-
It’s good to see this ball still rolling! Thanks for all the hard work Mate!

Patience has never been one of our stronger virtues, eh?
EDIT: Nizmo? Does the B pit include the RWR display in the lower right part of the pilot’s office present on the later models?
-
Looking really fine, Stingray, glad to see you’re still at it!
Cheers friend,

Yes, thats the plan.

Consider remapping, I’d estimate that over half of the textures are unused. F4 is running out of addressable memory space (32bit exe), so it’s important to not waste memory on empty textures.

The map on top of the page is a WIP. The map in my F-14 thread is also still a WIP. It’s pretty much exactly 42% of unoccupied space atm and needless to say not final.

really looking forward to see the end result! Keep up the good work! =D
