WIP: JA37 Viggen
-
Today the first (and hopefully not the last) hour of testing by a real life Viggen pilot was done. The basics of the flight model are quite good, but there is some room for improvement. I hope that it can be done within the current flight model.
A quote from KimKiller, who assisted him with the BMS install: “He did some runs against russian bombers at 25000 ft and here he said that it performed very close to the real jet.” That is what you like to hear -
A story bout JA-37’s intercepting SR-71 Blackbirds:

I am trying to get another comparison of the FM to the real thing, with the help of the guys at the museum at F21 (squadron 21) in Luleå, who have a JA37Di cockpit (the real deal) connected to the official simulator of which the flight model has been tested and approved. The comparisons have yet to start, but the first comment of the operator was: ‘it’s by far the best looking virtual cockpit I’ve ever seen of a JA37Di’. Compliments go to Qawa. who did this magnificent job!
Now it’s a matter of comparing the behaviour in BMS to the official simulator.
Here are some pics:

What of the status of project? All the 3D models are done?
-
The JA37Di is part of 4.33. But I just found out from somebody, who has the current 4.33 on his rig, that the U95 jammer isn’t implemented. I did send in the 3D model+ texture. I’ll try to find out why it isn’t ingame yet.

Have fun! Maybe a simple overlooked feature, happens so often when Beta testing/developing.

I wish that website was in English…it looks pretty interesting!

One remark: for an unknown reason, the word viggen is sometimes translated by Google as the ‘tufted duck’.
-
Thats because a tufted duck is called “vigg” in Swedish, “åskvigg” or just “vigg” is also a thunderbolt. So viggen could mean “the tufted duck” or “the thunderbolt”. Vig is old nordic and means combat or combat ready. So I guess one can choose the meaning to their liking

Little update: the flight model is currently being tested by a former JA37 pilot at the JA37Di simulatior (museum F21-squadron in Lulea). The conclusion so far:
“Short summary,” with a little trickery in .dat file should this JA 37D Viggen be a real winner. Very stylish and high credibility".
(Statement from a pilot and flight engineer)." -

Hi Topolo, this were the initial reactions. More testing is needed to nail it down. As soon as I have new figures, I’ll let you know
