Bunch of cavemen in the thread!

What i heard they skipped this version no. to imply a huge difference to W8 to the customer …
The story I read is due to the naming of Windows 95/98.

Same. Apparently calling it Windows 9 would break all the applications that look for a Windows 9X version in their software code, which is around 4000 applications.

I tried it and I hate Windows 8, Windows 10 or whatever you call it. Start menu and control panel are a joke
-
they have those now? fascinating…
Im happy enough with 7s Aero interface. Metro can slowly die all on its own, without my assistance : )

I just installed a Win 10 beta on an old machine of mine. I can happily say that the desktop does NOT have any tiles on it. You will see tiles as soon as you hit the Start button though. Thankfully the start menu live tiles can by turned off and un-pinned though to give more of a Win 7 kind of look.

You didn’t try it for very long. The control panel is the same between 7, 8.1 and 10.

Win 10 supports DX 9 as I also play Everquest which is still a DX 9 title. I used the same DX redistributable package that I installed onto Win 7 and it worked just fine as well as Everquest is playing just fine on Win 10. Haven’t gotten around to installing BMS on this old system and messing around with that yet but someone else had already reported BMS working fine in Win 10. At least for the basics. Now Cougar support might be an issue so you’d have to find someone testing that in particular.

win 10 will ship with DX12 is rumored…

I hope Falcon will ever be Fly-Able with Win7 because, all is running perfect for me on this OS. I’m sure I’am not the only one, which will tell u sth like that.

No you are not the only one.

Here too. win8 is used as office computer, but with the cockpit hardware win 8 causes a lot of problems i am actual not able to fix… Most problems are device drivers that are not supported by win8. And i do not belive that this will get better in future.

could be better if we could run falcon BMS on steambox once it is released so we finally can say goodbye to windows and microsoft…
