Which Windows version are you using?

…
However, whatever comes after 4.33 will definitely NOT support XP anymore, and probably be only 64bit. But that is probably quite some time away.Nah, 6 to 8 weeks pass by very fast. In the meantime we will have 12 other governments (while 6 might still be an old one - rofl)

Hi Guys, I’m new here,
As I’ve just bought an Apple Macbook Pro (new retina 13 in), would any gurus out there know which Windows version I should use using Bootcamp?
Thanks!

This makes no sense <http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2014/10/23/10566700.aspx>
As per the table, why VM space artificially limited in the first place is beyond me!

There are a surprising number of people here that have adopted Windows 8.
I would really like to know more about people who are using XP but can’t upgrade.

The limited experience I have of Win8 says it might be fine on a touch-screen, but doesn’t lend itself to conventional desktop PCs and laptops that still use a pointing device.

That’s conventional wisdom.
I’m quite happy with 7 and see no reason to change.

I was skeptical of Win 8 but after I got a copy cheap ( $40 during their introduction upgrade promotion) I noticed improved consistency with frame rates and animations in games… (i5 3570k + 560ti)
Most of the games I was used to under W7 seemed to be smoother when run under W8, BF3 for example.
I’ve also experienced way less random errors and other anomalies with W8, and zero to no issues with legacy compatibility.
Being an ex Window2000 fan/user, I’m kinda anti UI / metro, but overall the underlying operating system is an improvement over Window7 and still has a lot to offer a power user if you can look past the metro UI. Even for non power users Windows 8 has some features not really needed at the time of Windows 7’s era… eg. Win8 knows how to configure itself when being run from a SSD than from a geometric HD, and will adjust it’s management differently.
Then again Windows 10 is on it’s way so I guess that should take care of all the people still clutching on to their Window 7 partitions who are looking to upgrade.
If you have newer hardware, I wouldn’t hesitate to upgrade to the latest OS. Those still rocking legacy parts probably wouldn’t benefit much from upgrading, if at all.
