Eegs funnel issue
-
I was practicing dogfighting with guns last night and noticed that the funnel doesn’t really show the path of the bullets accurately. The bullets travel from the left at the top of the funnel and eventually end up to the right of the funnel. I assume this is because of the bullet path from the left wing root to a center spot at a fixed distance. Is the funnel intentionally not compensating for that. It took we a while to figure out why I wasn’t hitting anything. I remember in falcon 3.0 and 4.0 it was as easy as lining up the wings press the trigger and fire ball. Now I have to guess which side of the funnel the bullet path is on by the planes position and adjust my aim accordingly. I would have thought the funnel would compensated for that and show the accurate flight path of the bullets. Otherwise do I have some setting wrong that corrects the issue?

IIRC, the funnel lags slightly so you have to stabilize for …. ?0.5 seconds … something like that.

The distance between the cannon center and the center of the jet is less than 3 feet. At 1000+’ you shouldn’t be able to see that difference. It sounds like a bug to me. I’m aware of the lag in the funnel but when flying straight and level that lag is taken out of the equation. I’m not aware that there is a correction of the boresight angle of the cannon to compensate for that distance offset.
-
Maybe the ARI is the reason for the bullet path. What speed in mach did you felt when you shot the canon? ARI is compensating correct for recoil at .7-.9 mach.
-
I am not talking about it lagging I am well aware of that I am saying the flight path of the bullets doesn’t match the funnel center. Even if I hold the target at the right spot indefinitely it was still missing if I assume the bullet path is down the center. In fact in a turn its even worse because gravity will change the ballistics to even more left or right of the funnel center in a turn. From what I saw the funnel was worthless when shooting at a target while turning. I was only able to hit when I started to realize the bullet path was not down the center of the funnel by watching the tracers. Frankly I would have better luck if I just had more visible tracers and the gun cross. I am used to actually used to doing lead aiming in turns from playing wwii games. Either way I guess the funnel just gives us a guide as to what the path is and we have to compensate for the bullet path not being perfectly down the centerline of the plane as the funnel seems to assume.

Funny, I think AA gunnery using EEGS is easier in BMS than ever before. Or I have just became better at it.
-
IIRC the EEGS Level V pipper is not displayed correctly and the funnel won’t move in accordance with the target’s POM in the current version of BMS4.32.
-
There is a significant problem with the EGGS and it has be around since day 1,and that is that at the funnel in all gunsight levels shows the plane of motion of the gun.
At level III the funnel should cease to show gun plane of motion and transition to target plane of motion.
There is a misconception that the shooter’s aircraft needs to be in the target’s plane of motion, when it should be the shooter’s gun that needs to be in the target’s plane of motion. Luckily Falcon helps in that respect. Just keep it in mind when “things turn around”… cough cough -
(Sigh). I’ve never had a problem with the funnel because, as far as I can tell, it accurately represents the projected cannon shell path from close to far ranges. The pipper, visible with a radar lock, shows where the shells will be at a particular range, taking into account the shooting aircraft’s gyrations.
-
@ Albs. Can you make a video of your finding? Maybe with a straight and level no lock shot and one with the level V pipper.
-
I will try to create a video of it. Its probably easiest to see if you fire while pulling straight up. the results will look like the diagram. I tend to shoot at close range where that alignment difference is more pronounced.

1. 1:40 -> 1:45
2. 3:45 -> 3:50
3. 4:17
4. 8:00 -> 8:05
I haven’t had these issues.

Anyone else having problem watching that video? I can´t watch it even using a youtube-proxy.

Im guessing, that it probably works fine for people viewing outside germany.

Keep in mind this has nothing to do with skill, it just simply demonstrates the incompleteness of the AI. It doesn’t take much to fly in a circle and pull the trigger, when most of your targets decide to fight in the same flow.
Nonetheless, there’s many EEGS solutions in this video, is this different than what you’re seeing?

I used to be able to watch his videos, even if they were copyright-protected (songs) in germany (with ProxMate Plug-in for Firefox), but it doesn´t work on this one, hence me being curious if it is on my end.

I dont know then :S
works fine for me, but then the only videos I cant watch are the ones listed as private, or DMCA takedowns.

\00*/At the top of the funnel it looks that way. As range increases the funnel narrows and the bullets fall inside the funnel. right?
Is this r/l? -
-
yes at the top its to the left and the stream moves right at the bottom its impossible to tell.As I have a tendency to fire at close range it was throwing off my shots, however after I noticed it I was able to mentally correct for it. I was curious if this is normal behavior or a glitch such as the funnel not compensating for the left to right drift that is created by the gun being off center of the aircraft. The stream is always within the funnel limits but is not always precisely in the middle.

yeah I’ve seen centered funnel on the KC-10 take out the left engine.
