New X55 owner, some issues and questions…

I just use the rotary for radar elevation. Programmed it in advanced mode.
Why program it in hud? It works much better in bms setup , just set as axel
Or do you mean rotary in left end of throtle ?
-
I didn’t program the rotaries using HUD but within BMS.

Hi there my friend. I had same issue. I uninstalled saitek pedal drivers i think there was a conflict. All working now.
-
Guys, still making good progress on the profile programming, have started a brand new one today, but cannot get the silver rotary on the throttle working as the mouse zoom, can anyone help on how to do this?

I have the pinky silver rotary programmed for zoom In/Out. Not at my computer now. When I get a chance, I can post it…if someone else does not post first.
-
I have mapped it as zoom too, silver rotary is actually just button

Can you help Drac? Still having no luck in getting zoom mapped…

Mastersetter - Below is what I have mapped to my Throttle:
FOVDecrease -1 0 0X4F 1 0 0 1 “VIEWGEN: Decrease FOV – Or Mousewheel”
FOVIncrease -1 0 0X47 1 0 0 1 “VIEWGEN: Increase FOV – Or Mousewheel” -
Ok, so do i paste this into the .key file im using?

Copy to your keyfile using notepad and save. Be sure to load the keyfile again (since it has been changed) within BMS.

Thanks, that’s got me sorted now. It doesn’t seem to scroll as well as the mouse does but its not far away
Thanks again.

Yeah…it is not as smooth as using a mouse.
-
I just mapped it in the hotas programming menu as mouse up and mouse down then in bms removed zoom view controls to keyboard. Now it is smooth as butter……
If it helps?

Just an update after using the x 55 for a while now. Plugged both into the motherboard, and im using my own profile in the hud software, with most controls dx in BMS. Everything works as advertised, really is a nice throttle & stick now that i have learned how to get it all setup!
Thanks anyone who sent me profiles and posted advice, much appreciated

So now 4 months in do you still like the flight stick? Right now they’re the same price as the x52 and i’ve heard a lot of bad things about the x55. Thanks for the help!
-
@senor-taco…not sure what the “a lot of bad things” you have heard, but the X-55 is a good HOTAS in my opinion…no issues. I have owned mine for over a year and some months now. The price is great as well for what you get. You may want to reconsider.

Honestly? I love it, but have nothing to compare it to. Some folks have complained over the stick centering design, for me it’s fine, and i have no issues with fine movements during landing etc The issue with the size & placement of some hats on the stick can be true, but since i built a platform onto my seat so the stick sits low next to my leg, i dont have any issues reaching the hats at the top with my thumb, plus i made a small arm rest like the f-16 cockpit that helps The throttle is a joy to use really, only the slider thing is a bit useless, all the other switches, toggles etc work really well, and the green lighting matches my MFD’s
Once i learned the HUD software, it’s been trouble free, no issues and runs well in bms.For the money, it’s one of the the best options out there.

“a lot of bad things” you have heard
For sure there have been some Ghosting issues with the buttons, which may or may not be related to the use of USB hubs.
I don’t share the enthusiasm that ‘all the other buttons’ are useful, the throttle assembly is slightly to big for my hand, so the buttons on the front of the throttle are completely unreachable for me.
There’s also an issue with some models having grease discharges.
My stick (just the stick) failed suddenly about three months ago and I have not yet gotten it replaced.

I’ve been using X55 on both of my Viper Pits for about the last 6 months. They are a best value option, IMO. I’ve posted this before, but my only gripe is the lack of a burner detent, or an option to have one. I’ve solved this by putting a small piece of duct tape (fixes everything, right?) on the throttle slider, topped with a layer of scotch tape. This is enough to let me know when I go in and out of burner.
It’s better than the X52, IMO. More optimized for a real aircraft whereas the X52 is somewhat more of a “fantasy flying game” stick. That might be a bit strong, but if you’re looking to simulate more of a military aircraft, you know what I mean.
BTW, I have most of the keys mapped to DX. Only a call to FRAPS uses the Saitek/SST software driver.
