Default 3D Cockpit View too near HUD

Whole lot of dialogue in that link but I don’t use TrackIR. Seems like the only solution is to edit the acdata file? Where is that file? Can it be edited using notepad and what exactly do I change? Thks.

Use notepad and change fov values in Falcon BMS.cfg file.
U LL find the file in user folder config subfolder.sent from my mi5 using Tapatalk
Isn’t that the same as changing the FOV settings in the Config Editor?

My point (if you read the entire thread) is that you shouldn’t change that default POV or you might have to expect some display issues.
Default POV has been set to fit with RL harmonization of pilot’s eyes position.
Note that without TIR, you can still use the mouse to change the view in 6DOF (but it doesn’t change the default view position permanently) -
Iirc configuration Editor is limited.

I was hoping I could fix that by changing the default nearness to the HUD.

The BMS Config file has no option (none that I can find) to move the HUD further away from the default position in the 3D pit.

And as I said in my original post - FOV values won’t fix it - so your suggestion to do the same was pointless.

How does one move the default 3D cockpit view further away from the HUD? I tried different FOV settings in the Config Editor but it doesn’t change that.

I’m confused. Do you want a CLOSER or FURTHER view from the HUD?
If you can provide a screenshot of your desired view, maybe we can help better. I am confused why you say FOV editing is not the “solution” for you. I have TrackIR but when I’m trying to do a guns kill, I have a button on my HOTAS that 1) turns off TrackIR, 2) resets view to front, and 3) zooms in a couple of times so the HUD nearly fills my view. Much easier to see the funnel and other HUD cues, but is also “tunnel vision” so I only really use it when the enemy is in the area of the HUD.

M8 if you don’t want to get helped then it’s fine by me.
Good luck on your quest.
