AI Element Commands Combat Management 3 & 4
-
I’m trying to find information regarding the element-specific combat management commands groups 3 and 4.
The commands in page 3 are:
- Offensive Engagement
- Conservative Engagement
- Defensive Engagement
And in page 4:
- Beam Deploy
- Beam Beam
- Wall
- Grinder
- Wide Azimuth
- Short Azimuth
- Wide LT
- Short LT
- Defensive
I’ve been looking around but can’t find anything about those in the manuals in the Docs folder. In fact, the manuals don’t have any information about how to control AI wingmen.

Not working
That’s the reason it’s not yet in the manual. You can’t document stuff that either nobody knows how they are supposed to work or don’t work anyway

What about the old manuals from the original Falcon 4.0, the superpacks, openfalcon and whatnot? Or are those new additions for BMS 4.33?

Never worked

Some of them used to work, but it’s been so long since I’ve tried them I don’t recall if it was for Allied Force or not.
I’d like to retest the ones I knew. Maybe I will soon. -

It’s not working , none of them -

I’d like to retest the ones I knew. Maybe I will soon.I’ve looked in the manual from Allied Force and those don’t appear there. I would like to take a look in the documentation from OpenFalcon or BMS 4.32, but I don’t have those.

I never found them in docs, by that I am referring to what the command does.

Do they do anything anyway? We could ask a dev, maybe Mav-jp. He could be in the know. Not sure he’ll reply twice though, maybe not even once.
Thrice, though, could be

Yes.
Believe me when I say that I have a ton of admiration, gratitude, and respect for all the hard work
you fellows have done for the community. So with absolutely no disrespect intended, as I posted, I have
used several of these commands in the past. Looking at the list I can recall at least 6 of these and
how they worked. I now also believe that at least one of them are working now with this install.Probably more too, if one is then why not some of the others, like before.
But if this is not open for discussion, for whatever reason, I suppose I’ll just ease on out of this
topic and go on my merry way. -

They do stuff , but it’s all non sense and busted
(Says they guy that spent months to debug them entirely)

It has been created by BMS but never worked properly

Here is Beam Beam. It is a defensive command wherein the Element tries to establish and maintain a beam to the designated target. They will only go offensive if forced into it. The longer they maintain this command, the more likely that they will be forced to go offensive. In the past I have found that subsequent Beam Beam commands could avoid this issue.
So an active management stance often aids in the ultimate success of the command.
Previously, in earlier installs, they would maintain a comfortable distance, by memory I think it was 15 or 20 miles. Now it appears that the distance is smaller, but not sure as I’ve only tested it a few times yesterday. If it is smaller it will be less effective as a defensive command. There is no way to explain how Crimson 13 and 14 (on the left) could possibly be beaming the Mig 29S (orange on the right) without some command dictating this behavior. To my knowledge anyway.
For your consideration:
Mav-jp : I actually appreciate a follow up comment from you even if it is different than my thinking. Thank-you. I agree that it’s not a perfected command, but in this testing I had more problems with
number 2 following my command than I did with 3&4 following this command. -

Not working since it has been createdAs I said , those commands do things , but it’s totally erratic and FUBAR
I recommend notwasting your time to test this

Ok I will follow your advice drop it for this, but I do enjoy the analytical challenge of testing Falcon. I’m getting older and consider it
a preventative exercise with some real value to me, though certainly not a cure -
So, even though Mav-jp has made it clear those commands don’t work, I’m still curious about what they were supposed to do.

you will have to wait for 3 to 4 weeks
