I have a new bt home hub 5 I believe I have forwarded the ports correctly. port says ports open, open port checker says closed, I’m lost. tried falcon online server and I cannot connect. is there any way I can definitively check these ports are open

check your forwarding/opening the port to your pc IP address something like 192.168.0.3 or the like

Get this small program from here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/927kui4kgi8q0aq/PFPortChecker_1.0.40.exe
Install it and check the desired ports. Very easy to use ;).

Haven’t had to screw with port forwarding years myself through multiple cable modems and routers.

I’m not an expert but most of the time the problem is the router or the firewall. Check https://portforward.com/router.htm if you can find your router’s settings. Check your firewall too.

Aside from ports, are you also certain that you are running the very same version of BMS as the server and…. that you do not have any mods installed that could alter the ACDATA values?
I had the problem that I couldn’t connect to someone hosting a flight, no matter what I did. I had all the ports opened, I used all the port checking tools to ensure it was all OK… turns out, it was one of the 3D models I had installed (the MiG-23ML I think) that had caused the ACDATA values to change and the server was running in the “same ACDATA values as server” mode. After nights of checking ports and what have you not, it was that simple mod install that prevented me from connecting.

Don’t you get a notification if you fail to connect for those reasons?

Not in 4.32.7 - it just said “Failed to connect to server”.
