Nordic Skins
-
Still playing around with some things - but rivets are next.

For those who have begun to download Nordic V2.0. If you look in the DOCs subfolder you will find a folder with alternative skins . . . specifically, there is a pair of summer and winter skins for the Saab SK60B and SK60C, hi and lo visibility skins for the Saab Lansen A and B. My intent is to provide some alternative skin choices for users. Just copy the set you want and then overwrite the Nordic\Terradata\Objects\KoreaOBJ subfolder. If you want to change back use the other skin folder. In the future, I plan to issue new skins for various aircraft listed at the start of this thread.

So the ‘good’ became ‘better’… so nice touch, Tony.
Bravo!
With best regards,
Gianni.

I am closing in on completion of a skin set for the J-35 IRST Sweden. If you have enjoyed the Lansen and SK60 skins, I think you will like the Draken skin as well. I am spending a little more time on this one for several reasons. I continue to enjoy the challenge of these low-poly models which tend to surprise me when I compare the initial “simple skins” we assigned as placeholders versus the hi-resolution skins. I have deliberately held off from adopting a texture size larger than 2048x2048. I think more detail could be added but truthfully, the lack of polygons/triangles tends to be the bigger limiting factor for these models as you can only paint a certain amount of visual illusion into these models. If you don’t look too close the aircraft look nice. But, if a user is going to routinely inspect the aircraft in orbit view and count rivets that isn’t how I am painting these skins - they are meant to be seen at the closest by your wingman at typically safe distance in flight - in those instances the skins should be agreeable to all users. If not, I invite users to offer a substitute.

Here is the Swedish Draken: after test flying - I want to add a few more rivets and then I think it will be done and move on to the Finnish skin. I forgot to mention that I will be posting up the all grey scheme for Sweden next (after the rivet frenzy is finished). The intent for V3 is to replace the current model with one with at least two skin choices.

“Lazy”, did you say Tony?
Figure when you’re pretty busy, then…
Well done once more!
With best regards,

From my little own,
thanks a lot for your kind appreciation, dear LS.
With best regards,

Swedish Drakens are done . . moving on to the Finnish and Danish . . . hopefully by the end of the week. Will figure out the best way to post up some updates for DB, skins . . . then post up some links. Want to have a package worth downloading.
-
We too!
Big thumbsup to you, Tony.
With best regards,
Gianni. -
Finnish Draken is done (two skins one for early with big roundels and one for later period with small roundels.) Too late last night to hassle with Photobucket . . .will post up something tonight. Next up is the Danish Draken . . .
If anyone has a better way to host pics besides Photobucket please advise, I would appreciate it. I tried IMGUR but seems you have to have some kind of twitter/facebook accounts which I don’t do. I don’t even have a smart phone. I just need a spot where I can upload pics and link to without spending 20 minutes clicking advertisements to get to what I want to do.

Nice skins.
Btw the aim-4 needs green skin in nordic, not red.
-
Thanks - done. - - I am also thinking maybe the R28 missile should also be reskinned – I think it is supposed to be all white (not red and white). Need to research this.
-
This seems like correct missiles:
RB24B (Aim-9B)
RB24J (Aim-9J)
RB27
RB28Can anyone confirm that the green color is an active missile and not an inert/training missile? I would feel pretty stupid reskinning missiles for inert/training, hehehe.

just about finished with the Danish Draken and for a break I took another look at the JAS-39C model and skin. The model still needs some work to clean up the autoshade issues. Before I begin the skinning on both the Gripens - I really need to get the autoshade fixed first - there are just too many areas that will prevent an nice skin from showing well. Also, it seems I have lost my last final PSD files for the JAS-39C . . . so I will have to start from scratch.

Green is inert/training missiles.
Green engine and white seeker is training while all green are dummies. Also correct regarding Sidewinder, usually Rb 24 only for the 9B and 24J for the 9J copy (Later on we received 9L as Rb 74).
Silly Level Edit: I’ve touched those very missiles on that picture, am I famous now? Please?

yes! now you are famous! thanks for the info on these missiles.

Thanks much - I suspected green might be training/inert - also the missiles in Green say “BLIND” and I was thinking that was another clue that missile wasn’t active. I am making some adjustments to the missile skins to reflect the active missiles - we won’t be using any “green stuff.”
