Nordic Skins
-
Nordic Theater was issued with several skins that were intended as placeholders for more permanent hi-resolution skins when time would permit. Below is a list of skins that are scheduled for replacement. The Nordic Team is looking for volunteers for skins. The team can produce all skins needed however, the timeline will be extended without volunteers. If you are interested in making a skin contact Ranger822. If you feel there are other a/c, wpns, ground vehicles, etc that should be included please let us know. As of V2.1 the following items remain:
–---------------------------------------------------------
SWEDENJAS-39C
JAS-39D
FINLAND
Bae Hawk Winter Scheme
UK
Jaguar Winter Scheme
USA
F-4E Euro I
A-10 Winter SchemeRUSSIA/SOVIET UNION

No skinners? still need skin work done.
-
Hmmm…OTOH it means current skins are not that bad, or ppl hardly fly them.
Keep moving, skins can always be replaced later.

Agreed on all points. I am going to focus on the RF-4C and MiG-21 for now . . . there are lots of more important projects to work on setting up the basic framework to add stuff to later. That in my opinion is a better use of time. Skinning is more of a rest between more important projects or when I need a break from the hard stuff.

CheersHere are the three skins I want to have for Nordic:
Skin 1 - Finnish MiG21 - (using MiG21MF model)
Skin 2 - German Mig21 - (using Mig21MF Model)
Skin 3 - Soviet Mig21 - (using MiG21MF Model)
Also, if you can get PSD please upload and send me a link. It would be nice to have that to make natural metal skins also. I think this would be great for making many other skins for other theaters as well.
If it is too much I can help make a skin or two if you want. I was just about to start on this skin. But, if you can do these MiG-21 skins I can possibly start on Lansen or Saab105 . . .

I will contact neozino to ask permission, and I upload psd in few hours.
We can do as you said, all 3 on 21 for me while you go ahead on the other one. .pm inbound in few hours
cheers

Dema - looks great to me . . . my research has shown there are two distinct color groups - the darker color set which to me suggest a fresh or newer paint scheme and another one where the colors are quite a bit lighter and I think these are the same colors but are old and faded, photos have been limited but the faded schemes seem to be on possibly some of the retired a/c that are in the museums and such. So, I think you have accurately captured the right color scheme for active duty squadrons.
I have to say I am really happy to see a really decent skin for the MiG21 . . . Nordic is kind of setup for both sides to really enjoy blue or red a/c with cockpits and such. The MiG-21 being one of my favorite a/c makes it even sweeter to see such a nice skin for Nordic - thanks again!

I did some research before set the colors and you hit the point. Finland used 2 kinds of color scheme till a certain point the lighter one, last days with the darker. I decided the second one after i found this :
According to Apali book, Finnish Air Force Camouflage and Markings by Kalevi Keskinenn, Kari Stenman and Klaus Niska, comou colors of the Mig-21bis were changed in 1988.
The first colors used were very dark brown (FS 20108 ), dark green (FS 24127) and light blue grey (FS 26373).
In 1988, new Teknos & Winter IV-colors were introduced for the Mig-21bis, the colors were dark brown (FS 30004), Green (FS 34102) and light grey (FS 36440) .cheers

The skin looks great…there’s some tex-mapping bug at wing fence?

yes, I tried to search that part but no joy. I will give a better look soon when I fix other small imperfections.
-
wing fences are not properly tex-mapped. it needs LE edit to fix.

you want me to fix, you fix, or leave it for later? It will apply to all three CTs using this model (MiG-21bis Finland, Mig-21M Germany, Mig-21MF Soviet). With just one model I can replace all three and send Dema new texmap of fixed parts. I will have to send Starrats new KoreaOBJ.LOD file.
Also, I notice canopy and windscreen is a little bit cloudy looking - not quite so clear? maybe it is just reflection?
Never mind - ccc already sent me texmap fix in e-mail . . . I will get this update to Dema for final fixes . . .
