Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
4.34 support is planned but need time a bit.
Thanks a lot, this sim requires it for me.
-
Ok, i tested 4.34 with the alternative launcher and it works as far as assigning keystrokes to your stick. However for some reason it ignores the axis i assigned for the antenna elevation when i go in bms. Anxiously awaiting the new version.
Edit: It also ignores the AB threshold i assign.

If I’m not mistaken a new analog axis for the altimeter knob was added (for the full cockpit brigade). This is why you have to re-setup your input stuff and should not try to apply a backup of your current axismapping.dat/joystick.cal files. I’m guessing this is the reason and chihirobelmo will update the tool in due course.

Hey, not sure if anyone has said this already but I can’t map any key to the hat keys on my Thrustmaster throttle. I don’t have any problems with the trim hat I have on my M5 Cobra stick but yeah idk why I can’t set them on my throttle’s POV hat

You can’t as BMS only sees one POV hat… Your stick. I use voice attack to bind my t16000 twcs throttle pov hat to a keyboard function.

I’ve submitted 2 fixes for the Alternative Launcher. The first fixes the search box, and the second fixes an issue with running it on a G-Sync monitor with G-Sync enabled for windowed mode:
https://github.com/chihirobelmo/FalconBMS-Alternative-Launcher/pulls
This doesn’t do anything for 4.34 support, but hopefully chihirobelmo can include them into the next release.

Nice!

I use Xpadder for this.

I’m interested to know how people are getting off with 4.34 and alternative launcher. For me it totally breaks my axis assignments and BMS will never remember axis assignments made from inside BMS.
I have to reinstall BMS to be able to get axis assignments to save.

Set you axis assignments in BMS after you setup all your keybindings in alternative launcher. Don’t run the alternative launcher again or it will wipe them. Run falcon bms.exe from the the <install dir=“”>/bin/x64 directory.</install>

Thank you for your help! Your code is much easier to read and smarter!
I just merged it and your work will be included in the next update. -
When can we expect an update so that the launcher will be fully compatible with 4.34?
Compatible in a way so that we don’t have to use workarounds like the ones above anymore.
-
The latest commit on Github already supports 4.34 and I am testing it before release. So soon.
-
That is great to hear! Looking forward to the new release!

Is there a way to use this right now? I can see the commits but have no idea what to do with them.
Thanks,

Just built and tested it, seems to fix the 4.34 issues! Excellent! For what it’s worth, POV hats do not appear to be working properly in the application or in the sim. They do not show up in the button assignment window, but they do show up on the bottom of the application (with assignment) when pressed. It could just be me, obviously not an actual release. I would request the addition of an axis reverse check box for the throttle (well, all the axes really.)
-
POV hats will only work if they’re on the same device that you use for the primary X and Y axes (the joystick).
-
My workaround for a 2nd pov hat (in my case the hat on my t16000 throttle) is to use voice attack to bind that hat presses to a key. Works well.
-
That’s clever, I had forgotten that VoiceAttack can do that :). For those that don’t know, VoiceAttack has a really powerful configuration tool that not only allows you to bind voice commands, but also lets you bind joystick buttons to keyboard presses. It’s like JoyToKey, but built into VoiceAttack itself.
