Hello,
Still so much work to accomplish to bring the mesh ready to be unwrapped. I didn’t thought this aircraft was so complex. I had, to make her as perfect as I could, check an old 1/72 model I did to understand exactly every angle of the aircraft.
I really involve myself in this model, as it is a major work for REDFOR in BMS.
Here is my latest WIP :
Repvez, I am sorry, I do not wish to share for now my wire for now. Mostly because nothing is optimized, it wouldn’t be relevant.
I always make model first, then, optiize after, once angles give me satisfaction.
Best regards,
Radium

Nice work!cant wait see more PLAAF fighters,such as:j10 abc,jf17,jh7,j20…

Thank you CFCN!
J-20 and J-10 are on my todo list…
But also, I have to finish F-2A with her cockpit, and Mitsubishi F-1…

No problem, I just wanted to see how to create the base mesh so accurately. I just wanted learn from it.
unfortunately, If I create a low poly model some part won’t to be sharp which is should be and other won’t to be curved just flat plane. -
No problem, I just wanted to see how to create the base mesh so accurately. I just wanted learn from it.
unfortunately, If I create a low poly model some part won’t to be sharp which is should be and other won’t to be curved just flat plane.Hello,
To tell the truth, here is how I proceed.
Most of the time, I start a model After a long period of research. I need to feel the model, before starting it. Once I felt enough that I have all the curves of the aircraft in my brain, I initiate my model by a simple part, like the nose. Then, I work by small step, parts by parts. Later, I make integration. It is a good way to ensire that no mistake is done.
But one of the secret I use, is staring at my model in every angle, to try to find if it looks ok, compared to the references I have.
I might surprise you, but I almost don’t use blueprints. They are most of the time mistaken, and not accurate. Then, they lead to major issues in the model that can’t be solved later.
I also try to cross as much as I can my references, to be accurate. One source is not enough. Many sources are needed to find the good shape, especially with complex shapes like Sukhoi Su-27 series.
I am also lucky to have good friends in BMS dev team, like Dee-Jay, Topolo, Switch, Mav-JP, Eghi, Hayab, Lazystone and Badboy.
We are a very nice team, and, they are a great help, as I am really opened to critics.
Finally, I do not work on quads, but only on triangles. It gives me much more flexibility to work like that. Many people wonder by I do like that. But it’s by way.
As you requested it, here is a glimpse of the aircraft back. Many will find is weird. But it’s how I do.
Best regards,

With triangles you mean you work with mesh and not as polygon?

Thank you very much for the answer Radium.
I am with the belief that working with mesh limits speed and functionality.
Oh and terribly sorry for the off topic.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Well, it mostly depends on the person…

thank you the detailed answer, but this is emerged more question than resolve
probably there should continue in beginners guide topic where we share each other some tips and tricks connected with BMS -

Here is what you requested.
Don’t take this mesh as final. this is my current WIP.
I don’t mean my way of working is easy to follow, but I have very good results with it and I feel happy with it.
Also, many parts are still missing, and much optimization must be done.

Definitely impressive indeed:D! I wonder if there’s someone who will make the MiG-29K, the naval variant of the Fulcrum;)

Hello,
we are close to have the final shape. I worked a lot to decrease triangles amount, we are now around 19,175 triangles which gives me satisfaction, as we still have landing gear system to implement, cockpit + pilot and afterburner system to implement. For this last part, I expect something really close to the real deal as you all know that it’s really complex to make a nice afterburner effect.
I also look forward to make the huge P-270 missile, that Su-33 can carry. I intend to bring something new for this Su-33, not only a new model, but also a new asset. I also intend to model PL-15 missile for J-16… I let you google performances of both missiles. I already modeled PL-12 missile… Time to turn the page of cold war China and Russia!
About Mig-29K, I really love this aircraft. I could make, Mig-29K with INS Vikramaditya, as Russian Naval Aviation used it some month ago.
Hope you will like it!

If I could take a remark. The nose cone seems a little bit longer and narrow than real one, but it also could be due to a viewport setup (orthographic or perspective)
otherwise very well done and fast .Here is a DCS modell :

Hello,
I suppose, it’s a matter of perspective…
From my references, we exactly have the perfect shape, isn’t it?

it is just perfect
distance between back of the canopy and front should be quasi similar than from canopy front to tip of noze
excellent shape

Can’t wait to break it back down into triangles via Fox3
Looking great!

Hello,
Update for tonight :
Almost everything is there, except gears. Some parts must be cleaned, but basically, our new Sukhoï Su-33 is there.
I also added ladders, as I love to see it on a plane. I also enhanced tri count, to keep some budget to add more details.
I will try to add as much details as I could. I already achieved all folding parts, including back spine, like on this picture :
Hope you will enjoy!
Best regards,
Radium

Just for info … What is tris/poly count at this stage my dear friend?
