We do not want to keep things because they are there in the database but rather to make something realistic and relevant.
Russia mostly use for now Su-30SM and Su-30SM2. I will also do a texture based variant for antennas, that will give everyone the opportunity to get Su-30SM2 or Su-30SM, by simply modifying the alpha channel of the texture, that will paint or not the concerned antennas.
China uses now Su-30MKK (which is in the DB), J-16 and recently J-16D. J-16 has the same missions as Su-30MKK but able to carry Chinese weapons. We considered that it wasn’t worth to maintain J-16 and Su-30MKK, in favor of J-16 only that J-16 cumulates the capabilities of Su-30MKK.
So, will remain :

Su-30SM2 (with the capability to downgrade it to Su-30SM for theaters by a simple texture modification.

J-16 that will replace Su-30MKK and will add all Chinese weapon systems such as PL-10, 12 and 17 missiles but also chinese LGBs (which Su-30MKK can’t as far as I knowh it).
J-16D for ekectronic warefare and very long range strike missions.
Please notice that it’s really hard to me to only consider liveries instead of accurate models… there is indeed so much differences between a Su-30SM2 and a J-16 !
I hope you will understand our point of view and choice.

@Radium hello,
ofcourse I understand that priorities must be set and the DB should reflect what’s available/relevant for the theater (Korea). So it definitely makes sense to opt for the J-16 and Su-30SM for a modern day Korea Theater.
In any case, applaus to you for other great looking models, which add value to the sim and which are quite relevant for the stock theater! I appreciate that.

Idea is that when we make an update, it’s not only about reading stuff with a better result, it’s also to enhance and adapt our DB to also provide some new challenges to BMS players.
It was the same with J-20 : I know that a lot of persons didn’t liked that addition because it was going to be a very tough opposing force. Nevertheless, I know lots of other players that loved it because it added some new challenges and forces player to change their mind and face new challenges !

I agree with your decision! The SU-30SM can be easily repainted to be Su-30MKI and Su-30MKA, as they are the same platform and are identical externally (all of them are reported as Flanker H). As you have said, BMS already has Su-30MKK included in its current database. It is the same case as before; repainted, it can be a Su-30M2 and also a Su-30MK2 (all of them are Flanker G). About the Flanker’s loadout, if you include R-77-1 (izdeliye 170-1) AA-12B ADDER B and R-37M (izdeliye 610M) AA-13 AXEHEAD they would be an interesting challenge for modern campaigns taking into account that we already have Meteor and Aim-120C included in DB. Take into account that R-37 is an old prototype that is not in service, it was SARH and R-37M is ARH.

I guess you are aware that BMS code still is under development.
I mean if you face some problems with loadout, wouldn’t it be a good idea to show what you think is wrong, so that it (maybe) can be addressed in code, instead of fiddling with the DB?Biker

If the AI can handle well the lots of smaller bombs, I mean using good RP and release intervals using more smaller bombs can be viable in some cases. For ex. against a GUs 4xRBK-500 could be better than 6-8 RBK-250. Against certain large and hard targets 2xFAB-1500 could do more than 12xFAB-250. While compare their drag… —> Fuel issues to the AI. I do not have exact experience with the BMS4.37 because I simply do not have to time to fly.
I just commented what I experienced in 4.32/4.33 era to highlight an important aspect from campaign POV.I had to set such loadout in my MOD for the planes which did not allow to utilize their max. loadout and I simply discarded bombs under the 250 kg / 500 lb category. In most of cases smaller bombs typically are impractical and just cause issues to the ATO. From player’s perspective, TE creation of course it would be have such a loadout which allows everything but the heart of the BMS4 is the DC. If you ask me the DC with the ATO shall rule the allowed loadout settings as long as the AI is not as smart as a human.
Of course if the code hand handle such aspect it would be great.

Here and there I use for my YT channel to draw things, I use ACMI to show also many things but as flying campaign as player. I did not do since 4.33 era. I simply cannot use even the most basic function of a campaign, the new radario, etc.
As an adult I do not have time to run YT channels AND fly with az open world game which does not have an “The end” state compared to an RPG.
I plan to relearn things after releasing the 4.38. Fingers corssed.

Some news here :
I am trying to finish J-16.
WIth time flying, I am more and more demanding with myself. Then, I let you guess that it takes more time !
I am right now trying to make a good afterburner… It’s a total nightmare, because WS10 produced blue flames, and it’s the kind of afterburner that you can see nighttime but not daytime…
Perhaps I am a bit too demanding, and I may so something more simple, but well… You know how it is.
I really hope to finish this one soon, but I don’t really believe it myself
It will take probably two more weeks to finish J-16.
Hope to make it quicker !
