Bms launches in low resolution (not menu)
-
Hey,
In the settings I put the resolution to 2560 by 1440 which is my monitors resolution. But when I launch the game, it stays at the menus resolution.
Already tried reinstalling, deleting config, using a different logbook profile.
Thanks in Advance,
Fritz -
Fritz… your info are way minimum.
As u can see no one can respond. No much input no output…So could u provide some specs of your system HW/SW?
Software like OS or vga drivers version perhaps? One loooooooooooong shot could be if u r with new drivers just start reverting back one by one to get to the right.
-
Oh yeah of course.
I didn’t provide any info because it worked fine, and then suddenly after a restart of the game not anymore. There were no driver or windows update in that time. Is there maybe a config file to control BMS’s resolution?
In case it helps:
OS: Win 10 64bit
CPU: i7-2700k OC to 4.4Ghz
GPU: Nvidia geforce gtx 970Newest BMS version, using BMS alternative launcher (but tried without)
BMS is on an SSDSo all pretty standard stuff.

delete dx9display.dsp
check your vga drivers.
if you have the latest just revert back, like download older drivers and do a clean install via advanced settings - options, meaning not the typical setup. -

As I said, it already worked on these drivers. Tried up and downgrading them, did not help. deleting dx9display.dsp did not help.
Hope you guys have some more ideas

I have this exact same problem. It began immediately after Windows 10 updated to version 1803 (Spring Creators Update).
-
yeah I updated to Spring creators update too, it worked a 3 times after the update but broke after that.
-
So now we have an idea…
Revert back from the update.
Or find all affected list and go one by one to spot it.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Same problem here. Think i found a solution. Try this. Right click Falcon BMS sortcut, select properties, then compatibility tab and then check Disable full screen optimizations. Then click OK and run Falcon BMS. Let me know if this worked for you.
-
Thanks Clio16. That worked for me. I was almost ready to uninstall BMSFalcon and reinstall it. You saved me! How in the world did you ever discover a little idiosyncrasy like that?
Raven is raving…

Thank you so much, that fixed it. I’m really starting to hate windows more and more the longer I use it. Just mindlessly changing stuff like this breaks peoples games.

Thanks a lot! This helped for me too. I was scratching my hair to get resolution work again after the Win10 April update and your advise solved the problem.

that it worked for me only the first time now the behaviour is random sometime it works and sometime not independently from the optimization flag
-
That is very funny… it doesn’t care how is the optimization flag… but i saw that in multiplayer it didn’t happen so… the difference it seems to be that when a server connection is enstabilited and IVC is run Falcon Switch to desktop and switch also resolution … it like if this switch take positive effect… but if i ended the flight a commit again without to switch to desktop only one monitor is displayed …
Unfortunately to switch to desktop and back too many times stuck falcon -
I’m having the same problem. An added difficulty is that if I set the “Disable full screen optimizations” flag Falcon won’t launch at all. I get an Application Error "The application was unable to start correctly (0x000001d) Click Ok to close the application. I turn it back off and it launches. I went right to the x64 exe and tried it with the same results. I checked my application log and it indicates that Windows can’t access the exe file any longer. That doesn’t make sense. I set up an exclusion in my antivirus, no effect.
Window 10 x64 1803 Nvidia Titan X (Pascal) in SLI 7680x1440 surround.
App log error below: This happens even if I try run as administrator or any other compatibility mode. If I don’t select anything, BMS starts normally but I have the resolution problem. This makes no sense to me.
Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Falcon BMS because of this error.
Program: Falcon BMS
File:The error value is listed in the Additional Data section.
User Action
1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.
2. If the file still cannot be accessed and- It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
- It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.
5. Determine whether other files on the same disk can be opened. If not, the disk might be damaged. If it is a hard disk, contact your administrator or computer hardware vendor for further assistance.
Additional Data
Error value: 00000000
Disk type: 0*I can get BMS to go into 7680x1440 if I ALT TAB to my desktop at the RAMP/TAXI selection screen and back. Seems to work consistently.

Thanks Clio16v. It works for me.

Can I ask if it’s possible to rename the exe file? I noticed recently win10 file/folder management sometime gets messed up. I wanted to edit a file, but could not access it with the program I use to edit it. At some time I tried to rename the file and I was surprised I couldn’t. After a lot of trying al kind of things I copied the file to another folder and that did it, I had full acces again. Weird, not directly related your problems and I can’t explain it, but just a long shot. I noticed the folder properties of the original folder where set to read-only, I was unable to change that also….
Like I said, a long shot, but if you’re not able to rename the exe file, I suggest a re-install in a different folder…

Same issue right after a Win10 update. I did above and deleted dx9display.dsp but problem not fixed.
I then selected ‘apply to all users’ in compatibility tab and that seemed to make it work ok. Must be some rights issues.
